As one of the key projects under the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the 2021-2025 period, Project 6 "Communication and information poverty reduction" not only provides knowledge, but also creates more development opportunities for people, especially poor women in remote areas.
In Nghe An , the provincial Women's Union at all levels has proactively turned communication into an effective poverty reduction tool. In 2024, the Nghe An Provincial Women's Union organized 25 training courses and 52 communication sessions, attracting more than 231,000 female cadres and members to participate in learning information technology application skills such as using Zalo, Facebook, online meetings, and cyber safety.
In addition, the Association launched the contest "Application of IT in Association activities" with nearly 200 entries, in which the product of Ha Huy Tap ward won the second prize nationwide.
The project also penetrates into life through practical models: 08 digital transformation models, 6 environmental protection communication models, and more than 600 diverse communication products released on digital platforms.
At the same time, the Association coordinated with Nghe An Radio and Television Station and Nghe An Newspaper to produce 4 thematic reports, 25 news bulletins, organize 6 special pages and 4 issues of the "Nghe An Women" Newsletter with 20,000 copies distributed.
Thanks to these activities, over the past years, 25,756 poor and near-poor female households have been supported, of which 1,101 households have escaped poverty; 660 startup ideas have accessed capital of more than 15 billion VND. More importantly, people - especially women - have gone from passively accessing information to becoming the subject of spreading knowledge, expanding connections, and rising up to escape poverty on their own.
Ms. Vi Thi Huong (Thai ethnic group, Chau Tien commune, Quy Hop, Nghe An) escaped poverty thanks to accessing preferential loans from the Commune Women's Union to raise indigenous black pigs.
Project 6 is not only the solution to the problem of access to information but also the key to unlocking the door to poverty through knowledge, connection and innovative thinking. Through the project, communication has gone beyond just “telling people” to truly becoming a “two-way bridge”, where people – especially women – know how to self-orient, respond and proactively access development opportunities.
In the coming period, the Nghe An Provincial Women's Union will continue to focus on digital transformation, creative communication and empowering women, closely linked to the goals of Project 6 to promote sustainable poverty reduction. The Union at all levels will continue to promote the models of "digital women" and "green women startups", while mobilizing social resources to replicate effective communication initiatives that are suitable for regions and vulnerable groups.
By accompanying women in every step of development, from orientation communication to practical support actions, Project 6 and the Women's Union of Nghe An province are gradually realizing the aspiration: each woman not only escapes poverty but also takes control of her life with capacity, technology and faith.
