On July 2, Military Hospital 175 ( Ministry of National Defense ) informed that the hospital had completed the discharge procedures for patient NTHY (born in 1994) who had previously suffered a medical incident after cosmetic surgery at Korea Star - Sao Han Cosmetic Surgery Hospital (Sao Han Hospital). This patient suffered from critical respiratory failure, had to coordinate the red alert between hospitals, and performed ECMO (artificial heart-lung technique) to save his life.
Previously, Sao Han Hospital performed breast augmentation surgery for Ms. NTHY. After the surgery, the patient's endotracheal tube was removed according to the procedure. However, the patient later showed signs of respiratory failure and had to be re-intubated and put on a ventilator.
Immediately upon receiving the inter-hospital red alert signal from Sao Han Hospital, the ECMO technical team of Military Hospital 175 quickly mobilized to this medical facility after 30 minutes. During the entire move, the team of Military Hospital 175 regularly exchanged and provided professional guidance with Sao Han Cosmetic Hospital.
After ECMO was placed and vital signs were controlled, the patient was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit – Military Hospital 175 for further treatment. The patient continued to receive intensive resuscitation interventions. The hospital also conducted a consultation with a cardiovascular specialist.
After 6 days of treatment, the patient's cardiovascular function and organ dysfunction improved, ECMO was discontinued and post-resuscitation care continued.
On July 1, the female patient fully recovered and was discharged from the hospital. Previously, on June 19, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health requested a temporary suspension of surgical and procedural activities at Sao Han Hospital after the above incident.
