Collecting more than 2,665 billion VND in seaport infrastructure fees

(HNMO) - On June 20, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport held a press conference to inform about activities from the beginning of the year until now and the direction of activities for the last months of the year.

Public passenger transport volume in the first 5 months of the year is estimated at more than 152 million trips.

According to Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport Tran Quang Lam, the volume of public passenger transport by bus from the beginning of 2023 to now has reached more than 33 million trips, an increase of 38.8% over the same period in 2022 and reaching 37.4% compared to the 2023 plan.

Passenger volume by waterway in the first 5 months of the year is estimated at 13.07 million, up 7.46% over the same period in 2022; the number of passengers traveling to and from Ho Chi Minh City by rail is estimated at more than 514,000, up 86% over the same period in 2022; the number of passengers traveling to and from Tan Son Nhat airport is estimated at more than 16.7 million, up 74% over the same period in 2022.

Regarding freight transport, the output through seaports in the first 5 months of the year is estimated at more than 64 million tons, down 5.37% over the same period in 2022; the output of goods through inland waterways is estimated at more than 23 million tons, down 17.67% over the same period in 2022.

Notably, after more than 1 year of collecting fees for using works, infrastructure, service works, and public utilities in the seaport gate area in Ho Chi Minh City, by the end of May, more than VND 2,665 billion had been collected, thereby creating revenue to fully implement planned investments in traffic projects connecting to seaports in the city area.

Ho Chi Minh City uses port fee revenue to develop transport infrastructure connecting ports.

In the coming time, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport will continue to focus on coordinating with departments, investors to accelerate the completion and put into operation on the occasion of April 30, 2025 of the Ring Road 3 construction project, section through Ho Chi Minh City; My Thuy traffic intersection project; traffic congestion reduction projects in the Tan Son Nhat airport area; An Phu traffic intersection project; National Highway 50 expansion project.

In addition, speed up investment preparation procedures for key strategic projects to meet the construction schedule on April 30, 2025, including: Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway Construction Investment Project; Can Gio Bridge; Thu Thiem 4 Bridge; Ring Road 4, section through Ho Chi Minh City; Ring Road 2, section 1 (section from Phu Huu Bridge to Hanoi Highway); Nguyen Khoi Bridge; Urban Railway Line 2, phase 1 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong); Can Gio International Transit Port...
