On the afternoon of May 22, the Vietnamese team attending the 2023 International Science and Technology Fair arrived at Noi Bai airport. Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Huu Do welcomed and congratulated the team.
Participating in the 2023 International Science and Technology Fair - REGENERON ISEF 2023, the Vietnamese team has 7 projects, of which two projects won prizes. One project won the official Third Prize of the Competition and one project won the Special Awards awarded by science - technology organizations and businesses.
The project that won the official Third Prize of the Competition was the project "Pharmacological effects on the central nervous system of essential oils of the fruit and leaves of the mulberry tree based on pharmacological networks" in the field of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics (CBIO) by two students Nguyen Thi Mai Anh and Nguyen Binh Giang, students of the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences , University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
The project that received the special award from the US Agency for International Development was the project “A four-legged robot model to support search and rescue of people in landslide areas” by Le Minh Duc and Le Nguyen Trung Kien, students of Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, Ho Chi Minh City.
Meeting the students at the welcoming ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Huu Do praised the efforts of each student and the entire delegation. The Deputy Minister emphasized that this is a very meaningful exam for the students. This is a competition that encourages the passion for scientific research of high school students. At the same time, it is also an opportunity for young Vietnamese scientists to research and approach scientists around the world.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Huu Do hopes that this year's award-winning projects will be a premise for students to continue to demonstrate their passion for scientific research and develop their topics in the future. For projects that have not won awards, the Deputy Minister believes that students are still winners because they have learned about scientific research methods; have approached and interacted with great scientists in the world. By participating in the contest, students will have a methodology in scientific research and a better direction for future development.
As a student whose project won the official third prize of the contest, Nguyen Thi Mai Anh, a 12th grader from the High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, shared her happy and emotional feelings. She said that participating in the contest was truly a useful playground. She also hopes that this playground for high school students will be maintained so that students have the opportunity to express their passion for scientific research and learn more.
In 2023, the international science and technology competition named "REGENERON ISEF 2023" will have the participation of 61 countries/territories with 1,302 participating projects and 1,600 participating students.
Vietnam has 7 participating projects and is one of 33 countries/territories with projects winning prizes in the Competition. The competition encourages high school students' passion for scientific research, helping them to have better scientific research skills; it is also an opportunity for young people to approach great scientists in the world.
The Organizing Committee of REGENERON ISEF 2023 highly appreciated Vietnam's widespread promotion of scientific research and the organization of the annual Science and Technology Competition for high school students with thousands of students participating. This is an important premise for Vietnam to gradually improve the quality of scientific research in general and national and international competition projects in particular./.
