(MPI) - Speaking at the reception for Mr. Kim Dea Yeon, Senior Vice President of Posco Group, Korea, held on the afternoon of November 20, 2024, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc highly appreciated the presence of large Korean corporations and enterprises in investment activities in Vietnam over the past years, including Posco Group.

Welcoming Mr. Kim Dea Yeon and members of the delegation to work at the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc highly appreciated the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Korea, in which the pillars of trade and investment play an important role in realizing the goals of the strategic partnership between the two countries; at the same time, highly appreciated the investment and business activities of Korean enterprises, including Posco Group in Vietnam in recent times, as well as the goodwill in continuing to expand investment activities in Vietnam, especially projects in the fields of energy and LNG electricity.
Mr. Kim Dea Yeon thanked Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc for taking the time to welcome him. He also said that Posco is one of the five largest corporations in Korea with the leading steel manufacturing company as its backbone, along with subsidiaries operating in many fields such as energy, infrastructure, steel, secondary batteries and other industries.
Mr. Kim Dea Yeon Posco said that Posco Group has invested in the Vietnamese market since 1991 and is currently interested in investing in the Quynh Lap LNG Power Plant project in Nghe An . With extensive experience in production and operation in the energy sector, Posco is committed to accompanying the Vietnamese Government in this field.

Sharing the issue of Posco's concern, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc said that the Quynh Lap LNG Power Plant project in Nghe An is one of the thermal power projects using LNG gas in the list of important power source projects, prioritized for investment and approved by the Prime Minister in the Plan to implement the VIII Power Plan.
In terms of policy, the Vietnamese Government in general and Nghe An province in particular are very interested, encouraging and wanting to attract investment to promote this project. The project is under the authority of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee and has currently received the attention of many investors.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc affirmed that the Ministry of Planning and Investment will always accompany and support investors, including Posco, to operate effectively in Vietnam./.
