The 8th Future Investment Initiative Conference with the theme "Infinite Horizons: Investing Today, Shaping the Future" took place from October 29-31, in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The conference was initiated by the Saudi Arabia Future Investment Initiative Institute - a non-profit organization established by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia. The first Future Investment Initiative Conference was held in October 2017 in Riyadh with the aim of bringing together policymakers, investors, entrepreneurs and young leaders to discuss international investment and the global economy. This event is also known as "Davos in the Desert" when it attracted about 6,000 participants from nearly 100 countries around the world, including leaders of countries, businesses, corporations and leading international organizations in the world. This year, the Future Investment Initiative Conference was held to continue to bring together world leaders and discuss the potential of investment with the aim of bringing a prosperous and sustainable future to the whole world, especially investment in important areas for the future of humanity such as AI, renewable energy, green finance, etc. Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the theme "Endless Horizon: Investing today, orienting for tomorrow". This is a good opportunity to exchange, share, and propose investment cooperation initiatives, overcoming all limits to move towards a sustainable and prosperous future. The Prime Minister shared that today's world tends to polarize political order; diversify product markets; green production and business; digitize all human and social activities; affecting every country, region, every field, every citizen. That context requires all of us, all relevant subjects, to join hands to solve it with a comprehensive, all-people, all-inclusive and global approach.

The Prime Minister emphasized that we are all well aware of the need to invest effectively, responsibly, and with a future orientation, for the sustainable, inclusive, comprehensive, and prosperous development of nations and peoples, for a happier and better life for all people. In particular, it is especially important not to politicize development investment; everywhere, it is necessary to focus on encouraging all investments for development, especially investments in science and technology, innovation, improving the quality of human resources, digital transformation, green transformation, circular economy, and responding to climate change to effectively promote the potential and strengths of each nation, people, and each subject to rise together, towards the "Endless Horizon". The Prime Minister said that in the context of many difficulties from both inside and outside, from a poor, backward agricultural country, severely devastated by 40 years of war, and besieged and embargoed for 30 years, Vietnam has made tireless efforts, resolutely, persistently, and steadfastly implemented the policy of innovation, opening up, integration, and developing a socialist-oriented market economy, rising to be among the 34 largest economies in the world; the top 20 economies in terms of trade, having signed 17 free trade agreements, opening markets to over 60 countries and territories. To date, Vietnam has diplomatic relations with 194 countries, including Comprehensive Strategic Partnerships with 8 countries, Strategic Partnerships with 10 countries, Comprehensive Partnerships with 14 countries; and is an active and responsible member of more than 70 regional and international organizations. "At this conference, Vietnam hopes that partners, the business community, and investors will promote their role as pioneers in leading and orienting development in the spirit of "Investing today, orienting tomorrow"; especially needing to accompany, support, help, promote cooperation and investment in developing countries, poor countries, "leaving no one behind" in a better world", Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized. Vietnam hopes that partners, business communities, investors from Saudi Arabia, the Middle East and the world will continue to further promote investment and business activities in Vietnam and with Vietnamese partners, especially in the fields that you have strengths and Vietnam has needs such as: digital transformation, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, internet of things, renewable energy, smart cities, smart infrastructure, smart governance. The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam always adheres to the policy of increasing the attraction of all resources from inside and outside, especially public-private partnership, creating favorable conditions and ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of investors. "Vietnam always promotes strategic institutional breakthroughs, creates a favorable legal environment, a transparent and highly competitive investment and business environment in the region and globally; constantly cuts and simplifies administrative procedures, prioritizes emerging industries and fields, removes difficulties for investment, business and cooperation; Vietnam is focusing on investing in developing a synchronous and modern strategic infrastructure system, especially transport and logistics infrastructure to reduce costs and time, increase product competitiveness and healthcare and education infrastructure to ensure investor welfare.Vietnam always pays great attention to training human resources, especially high-quality human resources, associated with science and technology development, innovation to contribute to increasing labor productivity and improving investment efficiency. At the same time, Vietnam invests in consolidating and strengthening national defense and security potential, maintaining political and social stability, firmly protecting independence and sovereignty, creating a solid foundation "To ensure security, safety and maintain a peaceful, stable, long-term and favorable environment for businesses and investors to invest in Vietnam," the Prime Minister emphasized.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Saudi Arabia has a proverb: "One hand does not make a sound" . Vietnam has Ho Chi Minh's ideology: "Unity, unity, great unity - Success, success, great success". Vietnam hopes and believes that businesses and investors from Saudi Arabia, Vietnam in particular, the Middle East and the world in general, will work together, promote the spirit of "tomorrow starts today", strengthen investment cooperation with each other, and together move towards "Endless Horizons", for a world of safe, sustainable and prosperous development. After his speech, the Prime Minister participated in a discussion session with Ms. Zanny Minton Beddoes, Editor-in-Chief of The Economist magazine. The discussion focused on Vietnam's position as a gateway to Southeast Asia for Middle Eastern countries; as well as Vietnam's strategy to welcome the wave of the 4th Industrial Revolution, implement the green transformation strategy and commit to Net Zero. The Prime Minister said that Vietnam is determined to build an independent and self-reliant economy associated with active and proactive international integration, comprehensively, practically and effectively. In addition, Vietnam clearly identifies the importance of digital transformation and technology application to enhance the country's competitiveness and is synchronously implementing many solutions, including the issuance of the Strategy for the Development of the Industrial Revolution 4.0. This strategy is not only a set of goals, but also a clear roadmap to turn Vietnam into a pioneering country in the technology sector in the region. Finally, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the resources to implement the energy transition in the next 10 years in Vietnam are enormous and asked the leaders attending the Conference to support Vietnam in accessing essential resources, strengthening investment cooperation with Vietnam and supporting Vietnam in continuing to perfect its institutions and policies to be able to implement its commitment to net zero emissions. Accordingly, the Prime Minister affirmed that in some areas such as electricity, transportation, and agriculture, Vietnam is ready to implement energy transformation as committed. In response to the question about Vietnam's vision and choices for development, the Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam will always adapt and always harmonize the interests of all parties. At the same time, with the interest of many investors and expectations of Vietnam, the Prime Minister also affirmed that strategic views, innovative thinking and appropriate vision to encourage investors will be the key for Vietnam and investors to "work together, win together". At the end of the discussion, Ms. Zanny Minton Beddoes said that Vietnam will soon become an important position in the Eastward policy of the countries in the Middle East region and believes that Vietnam will be successful, successful, and very successful.
