On the afternoon of April 13th, Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico attended the Vietnam-Slovakia Business Forum themed “Promoting Economic Cooperation and Expanding Bilateral Investment Opportunities”. Also present at the forum were leaders from various ministries, agencies, trade promotion organizations, and over 400 businesses from both countries.

Over the past 76 years, economic, trade, and investment cooperation has become a crucial pillar in Vietnam-Slovakia relations, with bilateral trade turnover projected to reach US$1.78 billion in 2025.

However, the above results are not commensurate with the potential for economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. Therefore, the forum hopes to create connections and promote trade and investment cooperation commensurate with the Strategic Partnership that the two sides have just agreed to upgrade, as well as the comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the European Union.

Speaking at the forum, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung assessed that this was an important event, demonstrating the shared determination of both countries to realize the framework of the Vietnam-Slovakia Strategic Partnership in the coming time. The large participation of Vietnamese and Slovak businesses at the forum showed great confidence and expectations in the potential for cooperation between the two countries. The Slovak Prime Minister and the Slovak delegation were the first international delegation to visit Vietnam immediately after Vietnam completed the restructuring of its high-level leadership apparatus, marking an important step and opening up prospects for closer cooperation in the future.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung stated that, with the upgrading of relations with Slovakia to a Strategic Partnership, Vietnam becomes the first country in Southeast Asia to have a Strategic Partnership with Slovakia. This decision conveys a strong message about the two countries' determination to create strong momentum and open up a new strategic space for the two countries to jointly enter a new, higher, more profound, and broader stage of development.
