Prime Minister: Increase Vietnam's trade turnover

On the afternoon of November 2, at the Government headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, who is on a state visit to Vietnam from November 1 to 5.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh warmly welcomed Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, his wife and the high-ranking delegation of the Mongolian Government on a State visit to Vietnam.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh expressed their delight at the substantive developments in the bilateral cooperation in recent years, especially in the fields of politics , diplomacy, economy, defense, security and agriculture.

The two sides discussed specific measures to enhance more substantive and effective cooperation in all fields, in accordance with the strengths and needs of both sides, commensurate with the good political relations between the two countries.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed promoting substantive and effective cooperation between businesses, localities and people of the two countries; promoting bilateral import and export of goods, opening the door for each other's goods; and creating conditions for Vietnam's key agricultural and aquatic products to enter the Mongolian market.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh expressed their delight at the substantive developments in the bilateral cooperation in recent years.

The Prime Minister also suggested that the two countries aim to double bilateral trade turnover to 200 million USD in the coming years; strengthen investment promotion activities; and expand cooperation in diversifying raw material supply chains, especially in industries where both sides have strengths.

At the same time, promote cooperation in the field of strategic minerals; organize many business connection activities; promote investment and trade in each country; organize seminars, fairs, meetings, exchanges and support businesses of the two countries.

The Prime Minister welcomed the two sides for opening direct flights and signing an agreement on visa exemption for ordinary passport holders, thereby creating favorable conditions to promote tourism and trade cooperation and enhance people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. The Prime Minister suggested that the two sides continue to discuss and find fundamental solutions to remove difficulties in the field of transportation between the two countries.

Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh affirmed that strengthening comprehensive and extensive cooperation with Vietnam is a top priority in Mongolia’s foreign policy in the region. He also expressed satisfaction with the substantive progress in bilateral cooperation in recent years.

President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh wishes to further strengthen and expand cooperation with Vietnam in the fields of politics, defense, security, economy - trade, education, science - technology, transportation, logistics, culture, sports, tourism and people-to-people exchange, as well as at multilateral forums and mechanisms.

In the context of the rapidly evolving, complex and unpredictable global and regional situation, the two sides agreed to continue to cooperate closely and support each other at international and regional forums of mutual concern; share a common vision on ensuring security, safety, freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea; maintain a peaceful, stable environment, legal order and resolve maritime disputes by peaceful means, in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
