Speaking at the reception, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc welcomed the Special Advisor to the Japanese Prime Minister to visit Vietnam; stating that the two countries are extensive strategic partners with mutual trust. Thanking Prime Minister Shinzo Abe for coming to Da Nang to attend the APEC Summit Week, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc recalled the impression when the two Prime Ministers walked around Hoi An Ancient Town, had dinner together and held talks there and jointly inaugurated the "Vietnam-Japan Cultural Space"; visited the "Goin-in Ship" model, modeled after a 16th-century merchant ship used by Japanese merchants to trade with Asian countries.

The Prime Minister also highly appreciated Japan's efforts in promoting the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement - TPP (now the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership - CPTPP). The Prime Minister affirmed that the Vietnamese Government is strongly improving the investment and business environment, attracting foreign enterprises, including Japanese enterprises, to invest more in Vietnam; considering the success of Japanese enterprises as its own success.
