At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his sincere thanks to the Government and people of New Zealand for supporting Vietnam with NZD 1 million to overcome the consequences of Typhoon Yagi. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also thanked the warm reception and expressed his satisfaction with the results of his official visit to New Zealand in March 2024.

The two Prime Ministers were pleased to witness the continued development and deepening of the Vietnam-New Zealand relationship; agreed to coordinate and implement meaningful activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 5th anniversary of the Strategic Partnership between the two countries in 2025. Discussing future cooperation directions, the two sides emphasized the need to further strengthen cooperation in traditional areas such as trade - investment, education - training, agriculture, people-to-people exchange and expand to new areas such as climate change response, green economy, digital economy.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two sides set out specific roadmaps and steps to create further breakthroughs to bring two-way trade turnover to 2 billion USD by the end of 2024 and 3 billion USD by 2026; thanked and requested New Zealand to continue expanding official development assistance (ODA), supporting English language training and specialized training for central and local officials of Vietnam.
Prime Minister Christopher Luxon agreed with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s proposals; emphasized that Vietnam is New Zealand’s leading partner in the region; affirmed that New Zealand will promote all areas of mutually beneficial cooperation, continue to support ODA in practical areas according to Vietnam’s development needs, especially high-tech agriculture, disaster management and response, human resource development, etc.

The two Prime Ministers agreed to continue to coordinate closely at multilateral forums, and to make active and responsible contributions to addressing common regional and global issues. Prime Minister Christopher Luxon stressed that the two countries' shared views on regional and international issues are the foundation for strengthening cooperation and contributing to building a peaceful, stable and developed Asia-Pacific and Indian Ocean region.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh respectfully invited New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon to visit Vietnam; New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon happily accepted the invitation.
