Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh invites billionaire Bill Gates for strategic advice

The proposal was personally made by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh when receiving billionaire Bill Gates, founder and chairman of Microsoft Corporation, on September 20 in New York (USA).

On the afternoon of September 20 (New York time, early morning of September 21 Vietnam time), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Mr. Bill Gates .

The founder of Microsoft and the Gates Foundation was the first American businessman the Prime Minister met, after concluding his first day of foreign affairs activities at the United Nations .

At the meeting, the Prime Minister appreciated the goodwill and cooperation activities and support for Vietnam of Mr. Bill Gates personally as well as the foundations.

After inviting Mr. Bill Gates to visit Vietnam again, the Prime Minister asked him to support and assist the activities of the National Innovation Center, as well as inspire and motivate the young generation of Vietnam in innovation.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also hopes that Mr. Bill Gates, with his vision, knowledge, experience and capacity, will participate in strategic consulting on science, technology and innovation, contributing to helping Vietnam develop strongly and sustainably in this very important period.

At the same time, the Prime Minister asked Mr. Bill Gates, through funds, to continue supporting and backing innovative start-up activities, science and technology, climate change response, promoting green transformation, green growth, developing renewable energy, and improving healthcare and education capacity.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister also said that Vietnam is prioritizing promoting development based on science, technology and innovation, including developing the semiconductor chip production and supply chain.

For his part, Mr. Bill Gates said he is always very interested in and closely follows the development of Vietnam. He affirmed that Vietnam is very important in the development policy of Microsoft and its funds.

The American billionaire also highly appreciated Vietnam's development achievements in many aspects in recent times, especially economic growth and medical achievements.

The Microsoft founder also expressed his desire to continue promoting cooperation and support activities in Vietnam, focusing on the fields of sanitation and clean water, environment, healthcare, AI and advanced education models.

He also said that there will be a message on the occasion of Vietnam opening the new facility of the National Innovation Center next October.

In addition to the Gates Foundation, Mr. Bill Gates also founded Energy Breakthrough Venture Company (EBV) and Gates Ventures.

EBV invests in a variety of startups trying to commercialize new technologies, while Gates Ventures is an advisory organization focused on global health and development issues as well as a technology portfolio.
