From June 5-14, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, will attend the 3rd United Nations Summit to support the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development; conduct bilateral activities in France; and pay official visits to Estonia and Sweden.

The working trip took place at the invitation of United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and French President Emmanuel Macron, Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.

France and Costa Rica will co-host the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice from June 9-13, under the theme "Promoting action and mobilizing all stakeholders for the conservation and sustainable use of the ocean".

The conference aims to mobilize actions for the conservation and sustainable use of oceans, seas and marine resources.

The conference will be attended by leaders of governments, United Nations organizations, intergovernmental organizations, international financial organizations, international agencies, non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, academic organizations, the scientific community, the private sector...

Plenary sessions will be held in the morning, where UN member states will make statements on their commitment to the ocean. Each afternoon, there will be two dialogues bringing together member states, UN agencies and civil society representatives.

Vietnam has a coastline of more than 3,260km and more than 3,000 large and small islands. Our country's sea area is recognized as rich in natural resources and has an important economic and geopolitical position. Pressure from socio-economic development and many other causes have caused Vietnam's marine environment to face a series of problems.

The Resolution on the National Marine Spatial Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, sets out the goals of effectively managing and exploiting resources, protecting the environment, conserving biodiversity and marine cultural values, and gradually turning Vietnam into a strong maritime nation, rich from the sea.

The cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Estonia has recently seen positive changes since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992. However, bilateral economic and trade relations remain modest.

Vietnam always wishes to develop diplomatic relations, trade and investment cooperation with Estonia.

Estonia is considered a successful example of digital transformation and e-government, with valuable experience for other countries to refer to. Estonia has a lot of experience in digitalization and building e-government with about 3,600 online connection services, people can easily connect with the government through the e-government system.

Sweden was the first Western country to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam. on January 11, 1969, when Vietnam was waging an arduous resistance war for independence and national reunification. Throughout more than 55 years of history, the two countries have established friendly and trusting relations in many fields.

Sweden is Vietnam's leading important partner in the Nordic region. Economic, trade, investment, education, training and people-to-people cooperation between the two countries has been constantly strengthened and developed well.

Sweden is the Nordic country that provides the largest non-refundable aid to Vietnam, focusing on the fields of institution building, law, rule of law, administrative reform, human resource development, health, environment, etc.

During a meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on the sidelines of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in the UAE (December 2023), the Swedish Prime Minister expressed his belief that Vietnam will continue to make positive contributions to promoting and upholding ASEAN's central role as well as participating in resolving international issues of concern to the community.
