After a journey likened to a marathon with Indonesia, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team entered the 7th-8th place match with Chinese Taipei.

Coach Tran Dinh Tien's team entered the match confidently, defended effectively and had strong attacks - notably Dinh Van Duy and Ngoc Thuan.

The chase in the first set ended with a 25-21 victory in favor of Vietnam.

The image of the two teams changed when entering set 2. If Chinese Taipei improved significantly in all aspects, Vietnam made mistakes in many unfortunate situations.

Ineffective in smashing, Vietnam team lost 22-25 in set 2.

The match with Indonesia caused Vietnam to lose a lot of physical strength when entering the third set. Chinese Taipei exploited this difference to win 25-19.

Entering the decisive set 4, coach Tran Dinh Tien's students tried hard to rise up in hopes of equalizing the score.

However, with better spirit and physical superiority, Chinese Taipei continued to win 25-22, ending the match with a final result of 3-1 to win 7th place in the AVC Nations Cup 2025.

This defeat can be seen as an important lesson for the Vietnamese men's volleyball team, to prepare for regional and continental tournaments in the coming time.

One of the bright spots for Vietnam was Ngoc Thuan – who directly brought home 20 points in the 4-set battle with Chinese Taipei.
