On the afternoon of August 27 at Manahan Stadium (Indonesia), in the semi-final match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U16 Women's Championship, the Vietnam U16 Women's Team entered the match with determination, but unexpectedly fell behind after only 5 minutes of the match.
In the 6th minute, Kawinphida Kikuntod kicked the ball accurately, opening the score for U16 women's Thailand. Just 10 minutes later, the red team equalized 1-1 thanks to Suracha's own goal in a high ball dispute. The match gradually became more exciting with many attacks. However, the turning point came at the end of the first half.
In the 42nd minute, Peeranphan La-ongta used his speed to escape and score to increase the score to 2-1, bringing Thailand back to the lead. In the extra time, Charlotte Vallari fired a decisive shot, helping Thailand close the first half with a 3-1 advantage.
In the second half, coach Okiyama Masahiko's team pressed forward to attack in search of an equalizer. In the 65th minute, Nguyen Thi Minh Anh had a clear chance but could not beat the opposing goalkeeper.
In the remaining time, coach Masahiko and his team, despite playing resiliently and pressing continuously, still could not penetrate the solid defense of the defending champions.
In the end, the U16 women's team of Vietnam lost 1-3 to Thailand and stopped in the semi-finals. This defeat was also the 4th time that the youth team of Vietnam lost to Thailand in the semi-finals of the tournament, in 2008, 2018, 2019.
