On the morning of December 1, the U22 Vietnam team moved to Tan Son Nhat Airport (HCMC) to fly to Thailand to attend the 33rd SEA Games at 11:30.
Despite facing many difficulties when important midfielder Nguyen Van Truong suffered a last-minute injury, coach Kim Sang Sik and his team still showed confidence when going to Thailand.
At Tan Son Nhat airport, goalkeeper Trung Kien, Quoc Viet and Khuat Van Khang were wished good luck by fans and that they would help the U22 Vietnam team achieve good results.
Speaking before departure, coach Kim Sang Sik said the U22 Vietnam team had undergone an important training period in Ba Ria, in the context that many players gathered late due to a tight competition schedule.
However, the whole team still maintained a good amount of physical and tactical training, ready to enter the opening match which was pushed up to December 3, one day earlier than originally planned.
The Korean coach shared his feelings of excitement and nervousness when leading the U22 Vietnam team for the first time at a SEA Games. At the same time, he affirmed that the team will try their best to complete the set goals.
After arriving in Bangkok in the early afternoon, coach Kim Sang Sik and his team are expected to have their first training session at 5:00 p.m. the same day at the RBAC University football field.

At the 33rd SEA Games, the U22 Vietnam team is in Group B with U22 Malaysia and U22 Laos. According to the adjusted schedule, coach Kim Sang Sik and his team will play the opening match against U22 Laos on December 3, before facing U22 Malaysia on December 11 at Rajamangala Stadium (Bangkok).
