On July 18, within the framework of his official visit to Singapore, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son held talks with Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan.
At the meeting, the two Ministers agreed to coordinate with relevant ministries and branches to effectively implement the results achieved during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh 's visit to Singapore in February 2023; focus on preparing well for upcoming high-level visits, especially the official visit to Vietnam by Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong; contribute to effectively implementing signed cooperation agreements; and continue to coordinate in implementing many activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the strategic partnership. The two sides also agreed to coordinate to promote negotiations and sign important cooperation documents in the coming time.

Discussing regional and international issues of mutual concern, the two Ministers agreed that the two countries need to continue to strengthen cooperation, maintain solidarity and promote the central role of ASEAN. Regarding the East Sea issue, the two sides agreed to be determined to build the East Sea into a sea of peace , cooperation and development; together with ASEAN countries to seriously and fully implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), striving to soon reach an effective and efficient Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC), in accordance with international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
* On the same day, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son met with Singapore's Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean.
