The National Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital needs to promote scientific research linked to clinical practice, technological breakthroughs in fetal medicine and newborn care, and use innovation as a driving force for development.
Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan emphasized this at the ceremony commemorating the 70th anniversary of the founding (July 19, 1955 - July 19, 2025) of the Central Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital and receiving prestigious awards from the Party and State, which took place on July 18 in Hanoi.

The Deputy Minister of Health requested that the hospital continue to invest in developing its team of obstetricians and gynecologists, scientists, educators, and healthcare administrators, with a comprehensive vision and an integrated mindset. The hospital needs to create an academic ecosystem where every doctor, every staff member is encouraged to engage in lifelong learning, has access to advanced techniques, participates in international research, and strives for the highest professional standards, academic titles, and degrees.
“Obstetrics and gynecology needs to be one of the pioneering fields in the application of precision medicine, artificial intelligence, cell technology, and genetic engineering. Hospitals need to implement in-depth research directions, from prevention, prenatal screening and diagnosis, assisted reproduction, to neonatal care and fetal intervention. Each scientific study needs to be linked to improving practice, reducing the burden of disease, and enhancing the quality of life for Vietnamese women and children,” Professor Tran Van Thuan emphasized.
In particular, the hospital needs to expand international cooperation in a substantive and proactive manner to enhance its expertise and promote the image of Vietnamese healthcare. The hospital should continue to build strategic partnerships with leading medical centers worldwide, participate in regional academic networks, organize inter-hospital and international conferences and research, and gradually develop high-quality medical service models, aiming towards the development of specialized medical tourism in the field of reproductive health care.
Acknowledging numerous achievements
Sharing about the hospital's 70-year journey and future vision, Professor Nguyen Duy Anh - Director of the Central Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital - emphasized that the hospital is not simply a medical facility, but also a place where life is revived, a cradle for nurturing tiny lives. Patients place their complete trust in doctors and nurses, entrusting them with both their health and their lives; therefore, medical professionals have the responsibility not only to treat them faster and more effectively, but also to preserve as much of their precious functions as possible.

In this new phase, the hospital is undergoing a comprehensive transformation towards a modern, humane, and integrated approach, aiming for a smart hospital model that is patient-centered, promoting digital transformation, and applying technology and artificial intelligence in medical examination, treatment, management, and research. In particular, on the occasion of its 70th anniversary, the hospital was honored to receive the Third-Class Labor Medal from the President of Vietnam for its outstanding achievements in successfully applying the non-invasive Surfactant injection method in the treatment of extremely low birth weight premature infants, contributing to reducing infant mortality rates and improving maternal and child health care; and was awarded Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister; as well as the title of "Outstanding Physician" for exemplary collectives and individuals of the Central Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital.
