Recently, social media was abuzz with news that a public high school in downtown Hanoi had few applicants and therefore needed to fill more 10th-grade slots.
Specifically, the shared content was as follows: "Doan Ket School - Hai Ba Trung District is still short of students and is opening up out-of-district admissions with 100 slots. The conditions are that applicants must fail all three of their first choices and have a score above 30 points to be accepted. I just arrived to queue, it was very crowded."

This news caused a stir among parents, even bringing joy, because immediately after the Hanoi Department of Education and Training announced the exam results, many candidates were extremely disappointed to have failed to get into their favorite schools. This was seen as a great opportunity for them.
Previously, Doan Ket High School in Hai Ba Trung also caused a "shock" by lowering its admission score for 10th grade by 16.25 points, from 40 points to 23.75 points, due to fewer applicants this year.

Regarding the above content, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Hai, principal of Doan Ket High School - Hai Ba Trung, denied the information and stated that she had also widely publicized the matter on the school's fanpage.
"Parents, please note that there are currently many pages posting misleading information about the school's admissions process, with the aim of attracting views or profiting. Parents should be aware that the school's admissions process follows the regulations of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, and the information is posted on the school's fan page or website," the statement clearly stated.
According to Ms. Hai, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training's regulations stipulate that from 1:30 PM on July 5th to the end of July 7th, candidates can begin the procedures to confirm their enrollment in 10th grade at public high schools. During the first enrollment period, Doan Ket High School - Hai Ba Trung will not accept students who have not expressed interest. It is not yet possible to say whether there will be a shortage of places because the enrollment period has not yet begun.
According to Ms. Hai, after the first enrollment period, if there are still vacancies, the school will report and propose solutions to the Department of Education and Training to fill the remaining quota. Information regarding lowering the admission score or conducting supplementary admissions will be announced by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training. Therefore, parents need to be vigilant and know how to filter accurate information.
