Billionaire Bill Gates, Mila Antonova and Jeffrey Epstein
The Wall Street Journal reported on May 21 that Epstein discovered that Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates was having an affair with a Russian bridge player. Epstein then blackmailed Gates to keep Epstein quiet.
Gates met Mila Antonova in 2010, when he was 55 and she was in her 20s. Three years later, Epstein met Antonova and paid for her to attend a software-programming school. In 2017, Epstein sent a letter demanding that Gates repay her tuition, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
At the time of the email, Epstein had unsuccessfully tried to persuade Mr. Gates to invest in a multibillion-dollar charitable fund with JPMorgan Chase that Epstein planned to set up. Each individual participant would have to contribute $100 million.
According to the US newspaper, "the implication behind the email demanding tuition is that Epstein threatened to reveal the affair if Mr. Gates did not maintain contact between the two."
A representative for billionaire Gates confirmed this, saying, “Epstein tried to use a past relationship to threaten Mr. Gates, but was unsuccessful.” The acquaintance also said he did not return Ms. Antonova’s tuition to Epstein.
Gates's acquaintance with Epstein eventually led to Gates and his wife Melinda's divorce after 27 years of marriage. A year after the divorce, Melinda told CBS News in 2022 that her ex-husband's relationship with Epstein was one of the many reasons their marriage ended.
Epstein and Gates first met in 2011, after Epstein had been convicted of soliciting prostitution from a minor. The two met several times, with Gates telling colleagues that he found Epstein’s lifestyle “very different and appealing, although not to me,” according to The New York Times in 2019.
Billionaire Gates now calls the encounter a “mistake,” and should have listened to his ex-wife and cut ties with the pedophile and human trafficker sooner.
Mr. Gates has not commented on the newly revealed information.
