In order to increase the coverage rate of vaccines in the Expanded Immunization Program (EIP) among children enrolling in preschool and primary schools in the province, and to proactively prevent and control infectious diseases preventable by EIP vaccines, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province has issued a plan on implementing the checking of medical history and catch-up vaccinations for children enrolling in preschool and primary schools in Thanh Hoa province.

The goal is to have 100% of children's vaccination history reviewed for vaccines included in the Expanded Immunization Program upon enrollment at preschool and primary schools in the province (including public and private educational institutions); Over 90% of children identified as unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated against measles, measles-rubella (MR), polio (bOPV, IPV), and Japanese encephalitis (JEB) receive catch-up vaccinations to proactively prevent these diseases.
The target group for vaccination history verification includes all children enrolling in preschools and primary schools (Grade 1). Children who are determined to be unvaccinated or have not received all doses of measles, measles-rubella (MR), polio (bOPV, IPV), and Japanese encephalitis (JE) vaccines will receive catch-up vaccinations after their vaccination history is checked.
The Provincial People's Committee requests that the Health and Education sectors closely coordinate in the process of checking medical history and administering catch-up vaccinations for children, according to the functions and duties of each sector. Vaccination work must ensure safety, effectiveness, and scientific principles in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and the National Immunization Program.
The People's Committee of the district, town, or city shall direct, inspect, supervise, and urge the implementation of the plan for checking the medical history and administering catch-up vaccinations to children enrolling in preschool and primary schools within their jurisdiction. They shall direct the Department of Education and Training and preschool and primary schools in their area to coordinate with local health agencies to effectively conduct investigations, compile lists of eligible children, and allocate personnel to support the vaccination sessions held at the schools.
