This morning, May 31 (the 5th day of the 5th lunar month), famous roast duck shops in Ho Chi Minh City were packed with customers lining up to buy offerings for the Doan Ngo festival. Some shops opened as early as 3am.

According to Thanh Nien , from 6 o'clock, many people lined up in front of roast duck shops on Bui Huu Nghia and Phan Van Tri streets (District 5) waiting for their turn to buy. Employees were busy delivering goods to customers. Some shops had more than 20 employees, some cutting meat, packing goods, delivering goods and taking payments. On Doan Ngo festival, people often buy roast duck to worship alongside sticky rice cakes, fruits...

According to an employee, the shop normally opens at 5am but today it was open from 3am because customers had been asking to buy early. On the occasion of the Dragon Boat Festival, the shop had to increase its staff to serve customers.

The shops were crowded with people asking to buy roast duck and side dishes this morning. Many people bought early to make it in time for the Duanwu Festival offerings.

Mr. Truong Vinh Hung (56 years old, District 5) said that he and his son had been in line for more than 15 minutes. “I came early but still had to wait in line. My family has a habit of offering roast duck, roast pork and summer fruits on the occasion of the Doan Ngo festival. Many places sell roast duck but here it is delicious, so even though it is crowded, we still try to wait to make it worth it,” he added.

Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Loan (66 years old, District 10) shows off the results after more than 30 minutes of waiting. “The roast duck here is delicious and has a unique flavor. Although I waited quite a long time, I still feel it was worth the time spent,” Ms. Loan shared.

A representative of the security force said that due to the narrow road and the large number of people queuing up, traffic jams easily occurred. To ensure smooth traffic, the authorities were present from early morning to coordinate and maintain order in the area.

To create comfort for customers, the shop owner proactively prepared large umbrellas to shade from the sun, helping to reduce the hot and humid weather early in the day.
