Tien Giang implements Bao Dinh river embankment and road project worth nearly 2,000 billion VND

In order to improve urban areas and prevent landslides, Tien Giang province is implementing the Bao Dinh River embankment and road project. This is a key project using local public investment capital, which is being urgently constructed and is expected to be completed in 2027.

The Bao Dinh riverbank embankment and road project is invested by the Tien Giang Province Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board, with a total cost of nearly VND2,000 billion. Of this, the site clearance cost is nearly VND727 billion.

The project will implement many items, such as building a traffic route along both banks of the river with a total length of nearly 10km. Of which, the North bank is 6.7km long with an 8m wide asphalt concrete road surface, 4m wide sidewalk; the South bank is 3.2km long, with a 3.5m wide asphalt concrete road surface, 0.5m wide sidewalk. On the route, 3 new prestressed reinforced concrete bridges will be built including: Bridge No. 1 (Rach Cai Ngang - South bank); Bridge No. 2 (Rach Dao Ngan - South bank); Bridge No. 3 (Rach Ba Vi - North bank).

Bao Dinh River will “change its appearance” when the road and embankment along both sides of the river are built. Currently, the first two packages are under construction.

The project also builds a prestressed concrete embankment to protect the riverbank with a total length of 10.2km (4.4km on the North bank and 5.8km on the South bank). At the same time, it will arrange a drainage system and lighting system for the project area; arrange 3 parks and green areas along the sidewalks of the road on the North bank; and increase green areas at appropriate locations on the South bank.

Currently, the first two packages of the Project are under construction. To implement the Bao Dinh river embankment and road project, 309 households in Wards 4, 5 and Dao Thanh Commune, My Tho City have houses and land affected. The government and relevant agencies are carrying out the necessary work to compensate and support those whose land has been cleared and hand over the site for contractors to carry out construction.
