VHO - On October 25th, the Hue Imperial City Relics Conservation Center and the People's Committee of Cam Lo district ( Quang Tri province) received artifacts of King Ham Nghi donated by his descendants in France.

The artifacts donated to the Hue Imperial City Relics Conservation Center this time include: a wooden tray inlaid with mother-of-pearl, measuring 31.4cm long, 18.4cm wide, and 10cm high; a set of books in Chinese characters including the Imperial Decree on Official Duties (2 chapters), the Dan Do District Chronicle (25 chapters), and the Annotated Commentary on the Classic of Poetry (5 chapters)...
In addition, an artifact, the pipe of King Hàm Nghi, was also donated by his descendants in France to Cam Lộ district, Quảng Trị province - the place where King Hàm Nghi chose as the "capital of resistance" and issued the Cần Vương decree.

The aforementioned artifacts were donated by Dr. Amandine Dabat, a fifth-generation descendant of King Hàm Nghi in France, on behalf of the family, and personally handed over to the Vietnamese Embassy in Paris and the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum during her working visit at the end of September.
At a meeting on October 25th in Hanoi , Dr. Nguyen Anh Minh, Director of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, handed over the donated artifacts, still in their original packaging, to Mr. Hoang Viet Trung, Director of the Hue Imperial City Relics Conservation Center, and Mr. Nguyen Thanh Bac, Vice Chairman of the Cam Lo District People's Committee (Quang Tri Province).
The donation of artifacts from King Hàm Nghi is of great significance to heritage preservation and the honoring of the nation's historical values. The repatriation of these artifacts opens up more opportunities for people in the country, especially the younger generation, to admire and learn about this patriotic king.

Previously, in 2023, Ms. Amandine Dabat also donated to the Hue Imperial Citadel Conservation Center an artifact: a pipe belonging to King Ham Nghi. This artifact was brought and used by King Ham Nghi during his exile in Algeria.
The donation of artifacts belonging to King Hàm Nghi back to his homeland demonstrates the gratitude of Dr. Amandine Dabat, a descendant of King Hàm Nghi, towards her roots, and also contributes to deepening cultural cooperation between Vietnam and the international community.
