  • Provincial Red Cross Society: Started construction of 2 houses for people in difficult circumstances
  • Visiting and giving gifts to Agent Orange victims: Spreading love, giving more strength

The program has been implemented since 2018. For cases of irregular support, the program supports an average of 2-3 cases per month, each support package is from 10-20 million VND.

The family of Mr. Dang Hoang Dung (Hamlet 15, Vinh Hau Commune) was moved when the Emergency Support Program awarded 10 million VND. Having tongue cancer and losing the ability to work, the family of 4 depends solely on his wife's income from selling lottery tickets , so the support became a valuable source of encouragement, helping him have the conditions for treatment and more hope for life.

Red Cross staff hand-delivered the support money to Mr. Dang Hoang Dung and his wife, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Dan (Hamlet 15, Vinh Hau commune).

Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Dan confided: “The money from selling lottery tickets is only enough to cover daily expenses, so where can I get money to pay for medicine for Mr. Dung? Seeing him in pain and struggling with illness makes me so heartbroken. With this support, I will take him for treatment, hoping to alleviate his condition so that he can prolong his life and live with his wife and children. I am very grateful to the Red Cross and Thien Tam Fund for supporting my family. This money will help my family overcome difficulties.”

Similarly, Ms. Huynh Phuong Dao (43 years old, Hamlet 1, Bac Lieu Ward), a single mother raising 2 young children, has just received 15 million VND from the Program for medical treatment. Previously, she suffered a stroke that left her paralyzed on one side, spending about 250,000 VND per day on medicine and 2 million VND on rent, causing the life of the mother and her two children to fall into a deadlock. The timely support is a source of encouragement to help her have more conditions for medical treatment and the will to overcome difficulties.

After suffering a stroke, Ms. Huynh Huynh Phuong Dao was paralyzed on her left side. Now she has to rely on her eldest daughter, Huynh Nga, for all her daily activities.

Huynh Nga (the eldest daughter of Huynh Phuong Dao) was moved: “Since my mother got sick, my family’s life has been very difficult, falling into poverty and despair. Now I have to drop out of school to take care of my mother and my younger siblings. With the support money from the Red Cross, I will take care of my mother’s medicine, daily living expenses, and pay the rent. I thank you for helping my mother and me.”

Not only supporting cases of serious illness, the Program also supports and helps dreams of poor but excellent students. Le Minh Nhat is a case that the Program supported with 10 million VND.

Nhat is an orphan and currently lives with his grandmother in Tan Long hamlet, Hoa Binh commune. Nhat's grandmother is 66 years old and has many illnesses, but every day she has to travel all over the streets to buy scrap metal to make a living and to take care of her grandchild's education. Nhat and his grandmother were both happy and worried when they learned that he had been accepted to university, because they knew that the coming time would be extremely difficult when having to pay for tuition and living expenses for the entire 4 years of university.

Red Cross staff give support money to Le Minh Nhat.

Le Minh Nhat confided: “After receiving the support, I will take care of my study and living expenses. This is a condition for me to try harder in my studies, an opportunity for me to change my life. I am very grateful to the uncles and aunts who have cared for and helped me, thank you very much, I will try to become a useful person for society, not letting down the love and help of the uncles and aunts.”

Ms. Mac Thi Hang, Communications and Resource Mobilization Department, Provincial Red Cross Society, said: “In the coming time, the Provincial Red Cross Society will continue to coordinate with Thien Tam Fund - Vingroup Corporation to support vulnerable groups, poor households, near-poor households, and disadvantaged households. In addition, the Society also offers scholarships to poor but studious students to provide more conditions, motivation, and opportunities for them to be confident in their studies and have a better future.”

It can be seen that for those in particularly difficult circumstances, with serious illnesses, poor students... when receiving financial support, it is a lifebuoy, helping them have more funds and motivation to treat their illnesses, prolong their lives, and open the door to the future... And above all, all the heart, affection, care and sharing of the sponsoring unit and the Red Cross staff with the desire to help those in particularly difficult circumstances and families ease some of the difficulties in life.
