(Dan Tri) - Taking care of his special son is not easy for Mr. Bang's family. He did not expect that the German Shepherd dog given to him by a friend would become his 6-year-old owner's friend and bodyguard throughout that cold night.
On a weekend afternoon, T. (6 years old) played with his pet dog at his family's scrap yard in Ngoc Long commune (Yen My district, Hung Yen province). Seeing her son innocently and affectionately clinging to his dog named Mic, Ms. Truc Anh (40 years old) breathed a sigh of relief.
Two days ago, she and her husband, Mr. Do Van Bang (43 years old), had a desperate night when their son left home and wandered off to another commune.
"Thanks to the dog, my son returned home safely," Mr. Bang emotionally recounted.
Six months ago, he was given a German Shepherd dog named Mic by a close friend in Van Lam district (Hung Yen province). The day he brought the dog home, he brought it to his son and said: "This is the owner."
From then on, T. only played with Mic, and the two animals were inseparable. The boy often climbed on the dog's back like riding a horse. Every night, the dog followed its "master" closely, not allowing outsiders to touch him.

Mr. Bang said Mic has never been trained but often follows his son to protect him. The dog is not given special care, the family leaves a portion of everything they eat for it. Mic is now 3 years old, weighs nearly 40kg, is considered well-behaved, and is very good at guarding the house and its owner.
"We told Mic to protect the "master", but we never expected that one day the dog would follow and protect my child all night long," he said.
At around 1am on February 14, Ms. Truc Anh woke up and did not see her son beside her. Because the scrap metal collection area did not have a gate, the boy could have easily opened the door and sneaked out.
This is not the first time T. has sneaked out of his parents' house to go out. T. is a child with mild hyperactivity disorder and often sneaks out of the house. Many times, villagers have caught him and brought him home.
At that time, Mr. Bang realized that the family dog that usually played with his son was not at home. He guessed that the dog had followed T., so he hoped that "as long as there are dogs, there will be people".

More than 5 hours later, the couple received news that a baby was sleeping next to a dog in Lieu Xa commune, about 3-4km from their home.
Ms. Luu Thi Mat, a resident of Lieu Xa commune, said that on the way to take her child to school, passing through the garden next to the river, she saw a crowd of people gathered. They thought the child had been bitten by a strange dog and were injured, so they shouted, but when they got closer, the child raised his head, completely conscious. Only then did everyone realize that the child was lost.
"The dog barked loudly, not allowing strangers to approach the boy," said Ms. Mat.
A moment later, an old woman in the village came over to pet the dog and gently said, "Please take the young master home and feed him." Only then did Mic let the old woman hold the "young master" in her arms.
Ms. Mat and the locals took turns buying milk, bringing blankets and clothes to warm the boy.
When he arrived, Mr. Bang saw his son was awake, being given milk and cake by the people.
Seeing his owner from afar, Mic rushed over. When Mr. Bang carried his son to the medical station and the People's Committee of Lieu Xa commune, the dog followed him without leaving his side.

Despite sleeping on the edge of the banana garden, only 3 meters from the riverbank in the cold night, baby T's health was fortunately not affected. Mr. Bang and his wife took their child and pet dog home, promising to reward Mic greatly for protecting their "master".
The next day, a pet lover in Hanoi came to Mr. Bang's house to meet and give Mic a gift.
"Perhaps the dog is the most precious gift to my son," Mr. Bang choked. After the scare, he told his wife to keep a closer eye on their son, not letting him open the door and go out on his own.
Previously, speaking with Dan Tri reporter, a leader of Ngoc Long Commune People's Committee (Yen My District) confirmed that Mr. Bang and his wife work as scrap collectors and rent a room in the area. In the early morning of February 14, his son and his stray dog went from Ngoc Long Commune to Lieu Xa Commune.
"The child was discovered by local people, reported to local authorities and his family came to pick him up," said the leader.
