According to the Quang Ngai Market Management Board, due to reduced purchasing power, some traders have temporarily closed their businesses, while others have reduced the amount of meat they sell. Worried about the situation of sick pork, many people in the province have gone to supermarkets and convenience stores to buy meat.
At Co.opmart Quang Ngai supermarket in recent days, about 400kg of pork is sold per day, an increase of 100kg per day compared to before. The selling price at the supermarket is currently reduced by about 10 - 15 thousand VND/kg for all types of meat and pork bones.
At GO! Quang Ngai Supermarket, the amount of fresh meat imported for sale each day is about 500kg. In addition, there is also a quantity of imported frozen pork. To ensure a timely supply of safe pork for consumers, the functional sector of Quang Ngai province has strengthened management and inspection of the circulation stage, ensuring that goods must have a clear origin and valid documents before being put on the market.
The province will also establish an interdisciplinary inspection team to inspect the slaughter and supply of pork in the province.
