A passenger on American Airlines flight 1847 secretly read a text message from the person sitting next to him and reported the security threat to the crew, forcing the flight to return to San Juan (Puerto Rico).

According to a representative of the American airline, the flight departed from San Juan, Puerto Rico, to the Dallas Fort Worth metropolitan area in Texas (USA) on July 3, but due to an unexpected incident, the plane had to return to its starting point about 30 minutes after takeoff.

The incident occurred when a female passenger read a text message from the person sitting next to her that said RIP (short for rest in peace). She thought this was a threat to the flight, so she told the flight attendant that the plane had been threatened with a bomb.

Upon receiving this information, the flight attendants informed the pilots. Finally, the pilots decided to activate the emergency safety procedure. At this point, the plane, carrying 189 people, had only taken off for 30 minutes but returned to Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in San Juan, the original departure point.

After the plane landed safely, airport authorities inspected the plane and found no dangerous incidents. The plane was cleared to continue its journey and was allowed to depart again on July 4, landing safely in Texas (USA).

"Safety and security are our top priorities. The airline apologizes to passengers for any inconvenience this may cause," an American Airlines spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, Puerto Rican authorities also questioned the passenger who received the "strange" message. This person also proved that this message was completely harmless to aviation safety.

The passenger said that his relative had passed away the day before the flight. He had to cut short his vacation to return to the US. The message he received was a condolence message from a friend. The female passenger sitting next to him accidentally read the message and misunderstood.
