VNG launches campaign to promote mental health for employees.

Việt NamViệt Nam04/11/2024

In November, VNG launched the “Inner U” campaign with the message “Embrace the Inner U” (Respect your true feelings), aiming to help employees find balance between work and personal life, thereby building a positive and healthy living and working environment.

With its mission of "Developing People," VNG recognizes that the mental health of its employees is a crucial factor, especially in a high-pressure and demanding field like technology. Mental health not only helps individuals overcome challenges but also plays a vital role in performance and job engagement. A 2023 McKinsey study indicated that companies providing mental health care programs are consistently well-received and valued by employees because they feel secure and supported.

Therefore, the Inner U campaign was created with the goal of raising awareness about the importance of mental health, guiding Starters towards positive thinking, and changing or eliminating habits that can harm their personal emotions.

    • According to the State of Workforce Mental Health 2024 report, more than 34% of leaders in organizations perceived a decline in employee mental health in 2023, compared to 21% in 2022.
    • According to Lyra Health, more than 60% of young people are facing symptoms of depression and anxiety without receiving adequate support and intervention.
    • The rate of use of mental health apps has also increased by 50-55% annually since 2020, according to Mental Health America.

Specifically, during the period of October-November 2024, the campaign includes a series of multi-channel content aimed at conveying open perspectives and helpful advice to employees, helping them find solutions to reconcile their personal issues. In particular, an offline "healing" event will take place at VNG Campus headquarters on November 8th, promising an open space with many enriching activities, including a "healing" workshop involving sand art and scented candles; a mental health check-up with a psychologist; and interaction with singer Kai Đinh – an artist actively involved in community projects focused on nurturing inner emotions.

Positive messages from the project

VNG's continuous investment in Human Development activities is its commitment to becoming "the best place for people to work, learn, and grow." In fact, VNG employees are always given opportunities to balance their personal lives and work. After the Covid-19 pandemic, the company continued to diversify working arrangements, allowing employees to register for remote work with appropriate allocation. This helps improve employee morale while ensuring work efficiency. In addition, employees can also participate in physical training activities right at the company such as swimming, gym, running, etc., which not only help employees improve their health but also enhance interpersonal interaction.

Previously, in 2023, VNG successfully launched the #VNGPalette campaign celebrating diversity, attracting 1 million views across platforms, aiming to build a creative work environment that respects individual personalities while harmonizing differences. Thanks to regular and thorough corporate culture building activities based on listening to employee needs, VNG now has 17% of its employees who have been with the company for over 10 years, higher than the Southeast Asian average of 12-15%.

VNG currently has nearly 4,000 employees from almost 20 different nationalities, working in offices across 11 cities worldwide. VNG's workforce is quite diverse, with Gen Z accounting for nearly half (44%) and an average age of just over 30.

In 2023, VNG was honored to be ranked 25th in the large enterprise category (with over 500 employees) and was one of three Vietnamese companies included in the Top 200 list of best workplaces in Asia, according to Great Place to Work® . Companies in the Top 200 Asia must be outstanding representatives that have previously been ranked in their respective countries' Best Places to Work lists.
