Due to the impact of the weather, especially the impact of the recent storm No. 3, the production target of the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (TKV) in the first 9 months of 2024 only reached 71% of the annual plan, with 27.5 million tons of coal exploited. TKV Group requires units to continue to promote exploitation, actively work and produce to carry out the 90-day peak emulation period in the fourth quarter with the goal of: Ensuring safety - solidarity - development - efficiency, completing the production and business plan for 2024.

In 2024, Mao Khe Coal Company achieved the target of exploiting 2.48 million tons of coal - the highest ever. However, due to heavy rain, water seeped into the tunnel, causing difficulties in supporting and discharging coal; it took a long time to consolidate the tunnel. At the end of the first 9 months of 2024, Mao Khe Coal exploited over 1.7 million tons of coal, reaching 72% of the annual plan.
To make up for the unfulfilled output, the Company launched a 90-day peak competition in the fourth quarter of 2024, with the main goal of exploiting 675,000 tons of coal in the fourth quarter, an increase of 75,000 tons compared to the original plan, and maintaining labor safety. With the active participation of workers and staff in implementing the peak competition, Mao Khe Coal Company currently exploits an average of over 9,000 tons of coal per day, an increase of more than 1,500 tons compared to the average daily output of the third quarter. To encourage workers to actively compete in production and ensure safety, the Company has developed an incentive plan with salaries and bonuses in this fourth quarter.
Mr. Mai Quoc Kha, Vice Chairman of the Mao Khe Coal Company's Trade Union, said: In the fourth quarter, the Company mobilized workers to work all day on Sunday to ensure the production progress set for the fourth quarter; to encourage workers and staff to compete in production and ensure safety during the campaign, the Company has a salary incentive plan of 120 million VND for units in the mining, tunneling, transportation and safety room sectors; 100 million VND for workshops in the ground sector.
Together with Mao Khe Coal Company, units under TKV Group also launched a 90-day peak competition for production and business in the fourth quarter of 2024. The focus is on developing a production and consumption management plan; reviewing the 2024 plan targets, directing the plan to achieve the set progress, striving to produce 10 million tons of coal in the fourth quarter.
With the efforts of workers and officers of the units, in October 2024, Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group produced over 3 million tons of coal, equal to 106% of the monthly plan, with 21/22 units completing the raw coal output plan; excavating over 13.4 million m3 of soil and rock; total clean coal 3.2 million tons; coal consumption reached 3.6 million tons, equal to 91% of the monthly plan, of which consumption for Thermal Power Plants was over 2.6 million tons.

In November 2024, taking advantage of favorable weather, TKV directed units to focus on production, increase output, and ensure coal is supplied to customers according to signed contracts. In particular, for coal supplied to power households, due to dry weather, the demand for coal for thermal power plants will increase, so TKV directed units to closely follow the plan, the actual needs of power households, increase production, and deliver coal on schedule. According to the plan, in this November, TKV strives to consume over 4.5 million tons, of which over 3.6 million tons will be delivered to power households.
Mr. Nguyen Huy Nam, Deputy General Director of TKV Group, said: The Group is directing units to closely follow the assigned plan, focus on production, units with production conditions increase output compared to the plan; review the capacity of warehouses, prepare goods to ensure quality and variety, meet customer needs; promote accident and incident prevention, aiming to completely eliminate risks; carry out environmental work well, spray mist to suppress dust in the dry season; continue to invest in human transportation equipment to serve workers in the mine; focus on ensuring security and order, ensuring regimes and policies for workers.
