Ban Ba, Huu Kiem commune (Ky Son) has 140 households, all of which raise pigs. Banana trees are the main food for livestock, so the local people have established a Banana Growing Cooperative, consisting of 12 households, led by Ms. Vi Thi Kham (left). Photo: HT

The cooperative’s banana growing area of about 30 hectares is located on the other side of the Nam Mo River, opposite Ba village. This is a place where the soil is loose and rich in alluvium, making it very suitable for growing this type of tree. Photo: TP

In addition to the income from selling banana leaves, banana flowers, and banana roots, a product of the banana tree also brings a good income to the people, which is bananas. Each bunch of ripe bananas is sold for 100,000 VND/bunch. On occasions near Tet, or on weekdays of the month, banana products used for worship are not enough to sell. Photo: TP
