Meanwhile, Russian media quoted an announcement from the Ministry of Defense saying that the first production models of the Chukavina sniper rifle have been put into service with units of the Russian armed forces.
Russian servicemen have received the first mass-produced rifles. The Chukavina rifle is to replace the Dragunov sniper rifle (SVD), which has been in service since 1963.
Regarding the deployment of new weapons, during a meeting to discuss the urgent issue of accelerating the production of artillery and Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS) to meet the needs of special military operations, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu stressed the importance of rapidly producing these systems and their ammunition.
To achieve the goal, Mr. Shoigu said, the Russian government has given the defense industry the right to use all reserves.
Furthermore, the Russian Ministry of Defense not only simplified the contracting process, but also reduced testing requirements and relaxed component standards without affecting the overall quality of the final product.
