At the conference, Chief Justice of the Provincial People's Court - Le Quoc Dung said that in 2023, the Provincial People's Court at 2 levels received a total of 19,172 cases of all kinds, resolved 17,056 cases, reaching 88.96%. Of which, criminal cases received 1,335 cases, resolved 1,308 cases, reaching 98%, of which drug-related crimes were tried 175/178 cases; civil cases and other types of cases received 16,286 cases, resolved 14,201 cases, reaching 87.19%.

Regarding the situation of criminal law violations on the Long An - Svay Rieng border, the authorities prosecuted 38 cases/47 subjects violating social order in the province; handled 14 cases/16 subjects violating the economic field; eliminated 9 cases of illegal drug trading and possession; prosecuted 1 case/1 defendant for the crime of organizing illegal exit for others.

In addition, the functional forces on the border coordinate to propagate the policies and laws of the two countries to border residents; implement measures and solutions to ensure security and order and promptly handle situations arising in the province in accordance with the situation and functions and tasks, contributing to stabilizing the security and order situation on the border of Long An of Vietnam and Svay Rieng of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Mr. Eak Phalla - Chief Justice of Svay Rieng Court of First Instance informed the Provincial People's Court about some results of the cooperation agreement between the two units.
According to Mr. Eak Phalla - Chief Justice of the Svay Rieng Court of First Instance, in 2023, the Svay Rieng Court of First Instance accepted 267 cases, 72 of which were pending; tried 225 cases and are currently handling 114 cases. In the criminal cases, there were 23 cases involving Vietnamese people with 50 defendants, including 4 women. Of which, there were 18 cases involving the crime of trafficking, storing, and illegally using drugs with 40 defendants, including 3 women; human trafficking, prostitution 3 cases/5 defendants and the crime of illegal detention with 5 defendants.

According to the assessment of the Provincial People's Court, in implementing the cooperation agreement in 2023, the Provincial People's Court's Board of Directors has deployed for the People's Courts at 2 levels in the province, especially for the People's Courts of districts bordering districts in Svay Rieng province to continue to maintain good implementation of international treaties, international agreements as well as cooperation agreements between the Provincial People's Court and the Court of First Instance of Svay Rieng province on crime prevention and control on the border.

In addition, through the trial work, the People's Courts at 2 levels of Long An province coordinate with all levels, sectors and localities to strengthen education and dissemination of laws so that people in the province in general and people in border districts in particular respect the laws of both countries; fight and prevent criminal activities, especially drug crimes and transnational and cross-border human trafficking between the two provinces.

At the conference, the Provincial People's Court and the Svay Rieng Court of First Instance also agreed to continue signing a cooperation agreement in 2024. In particular, the two units will continue to closely coordinate to improve the effectiveness of the fight against, prevention and trial of transnational crimes; improve the capacity and effectiveness of implementing the provisions of the Agreement on bilateral cooperation in preventing and combating drug crimes, human trafficking and protecting victims of trafficking through the trial work of the Courts of the two provinces.
At the same time, strengthen coordination in adjudicating civil cases according to the provisions of the Judicial Assistance Agreement and other relevant legal documents to have a positive impact on the socio-economic development of the two provinces.
In addition, through the trial work, the Courts of the two provinces agreed to continue to carry out well the dissemination and propaganda of the law, especially in border districts to raise people's awareness in complying with the laws of both countries, contributing to maintaining security and order in the border areas of the two provinces.

Speaking at the signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement, Chief Justice of the Provincial People's Court - Le Quoc Dung affirmed that the 2024 cooperation agreement between the Provincial People's Court and the Svay Rieng Court of First Instance aims to continue building cooperative relations, contributing to maintaining stability in the border area, further tightening the spirit of solidarity, friendship, and the good traditional cooperative relationship between Vietnam and the Kingdom of Cambodia./.
