I come back to love my homeland!

Việt NamViệt Nam28/09/2023

Anyone living in this world has a hometown river to remember, to love, to have ambitions, dreams and aspirations. Everyone has their own beloved country, homeland – If anyone does not remember their homeland/ They will not grow up to be a human being (poem by Do Trung Quan).

With the homeland, those who have different ideals and ambitions, on this side or that side of the battle line, have only one love for the homeland: They miss it deeply, they love it deeply. For example, Mr. Nguyen Cao Ky, former Vice President of the Saigon government, returned to the country for the first time after nearly 30 years of exile from the US. The first thing he did was return to his homeland, letting his soul drift among the rivers and waters of his homeland. He said: "The homeland is a heart-wrenching nostalgia". Famous artist Kieu Chinh at the Hollywood film center - USA wrote in her memoir: "My wish at the end of my life is to return to my homeland, to bathe in the breath of my homeland, the place of my birth".

Many children of Binh Thuan , due to different circumstances, are living and working abroad and have a burning desire to return, revisit old memories, and remember a time when they loved and missed their homeland; or if they have the means, they can contribute to investing and building a rich and beautiful homeland of Binh Thuan .

On September 23, 2023, Ut Mui Ne returned to Quang Nam - Da Nang, participating in the event "I return to love my homeland / The righteous people would like to send a thousand words of gratitude" by a woman from Quang - poet Van Loc - Vo Thi Hoi. At the age of 13, Vo Thi Hoi left her hometown river, mulberry fields, and Dong Yen village, Duy Trinh commune, Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province, following her mother to Da Nang to work hard to make a living. Leaving her hometown to establish herself and her career, she still yearned for her hometown's Thu Bon river, telling herself that every year she would return to her hometown dozens of times, contributing her small efforts to building her hometown, considering it an indescribable joy.

When she passed the age of eighty - the winter of her life, with 11 published poetry collections, Ms. Vo Thi Hoi returned to her homeland with overflowing emotions, filled with feelings to meet relatives, aunts and uncles in a close and intimate feeling. Returning to Duy Trinh, the poem Van Loc wrote from her heart: "I love my homeland" to remember a life of hardship, building a warm family, raising children and grandchildren to become useful citizens for society, for the homeland, and the country. The lullabies, melodies, and folk songs of Duy Trinh's homeland have sown in her soul many emotions so that this life is always full of nostalgia and it is the love for the homeland, the cradle of the homeland's culture that has sown seeds and nurtured the poetry of the daughter of Duy Trinh Vo Thi Hoi - to have the poet Van Loc who loves poetry today.

Life is colorful, Van Loc writes poetry - lives fully with the joy of poetry, considers it as the diary pages of life, as the spiritual life that gives wings to her to love life more, love people, love life, love her homeland, love her country, love her family, love her friends... From there, she has poems and songs "Remembering mother, father, the hometown river, the banyan tree, the ferry", love life, people are friends!

On the land of Duy Trinh, to express gratitude for the deep affection for the homeland, the leaders of Duy Trinh commune and the Cultural Information Center enthusiastically participated in organizing a program to introduce the author and works about the life and literary career of Van Loc - Vo Thi Hoi. The affection for the homeland is so warm and affectionate, nothing can measure it.

Many friends and colleagues at home and abroad sent letters and flower bouquets to congratulate Vo Thi Hoi - Van Loc. A poetry lover working in Vinh city, Nghe An, although not receiving an invitation, upon hearing the news bought a train ticket all night long, in time to return to Duy Trinh to attend the program.

Beloved Uncle Ho taught: “Love for the homeland comes from the heart”. That’s right, Duy Trinh’s homeland gave wings to fly high for Vo Thi Hoi – Van Loc. And it was this woman far from home, who loved her homeland passionately from her heart, who has been doing her best for her homeland, for her beloved homeland. The lesson of love for the homeland is not unique to anyone…
