But this story of “I know, it’s so hard, I keep saying it” continues, especially at the present time, when in just the second half of June and the beginning of July, there have been at least 5 beauty pageants held. After Miss Universe Vietnam, Miss Vietnam, then Miss Earth Vietnam; Miss Sea Vietnam Global... Not to mention, there are a series of other beauty pageants being launched such as Miss World Vietnam, Miss National Vietnam...
Just remembering the names of the contests is difficult, let alone remembering the faces of the beauties after they are crowned!
Obviously, the explosion of too many beauty pageants not only reduces the appeal of beauty contests, but also makes the honored faces easily fade away; the title of beauty queen is therefore less prestigious.
Discussing the causes leading to the above situation, many opinions say that it is impossible not to mention the trend of commercializing beauty contests.
If in the past, Vietnam only had a beauty contest every few years, now, searching for beauty has become a part of the beauty industry.
As long as the organizers make profits from sponsorship and advertising, and as long as the contestants still crave the title, beauty pageants will continue to appear like mushrooms after the rain.
It is worth mentioning that the inverse proportion to the increase in quantity is often a decline in quality in many beauty contests, especially when there are factors of interest dominating.
This explains why some beauty contests are suspected of interfering with the results, causing public opinion to question their fairness and objectivity. And there are also many beauties who, after being crowned, disappoint the public because of scandals or "controversies". There are cases where immediately after being crowned, they are criticized by the online community, and there are also cases where their titles are revoked before they can shine...
Looking at the criteria and purposes of organizing competitions, almost every playground aims to find faces representing beauty, intelligence, compassion, and awareness of action for the community.
It also means that when a beauty is chosen to be crowned, she also takes on a humanitarian mission, spreading good and kind things in society.
But honoring beauty must be done properly, just as accepting a title must come with responsibility.
It is time to reorganize beauty pageants in a streamlined manner, limiting the number to increase quality. Decree 144/2020/ND-CP regulating performing arts activities (effective from February 1, 2021) has more "loose" points than before when not limiting the number of beauty pageants.
However, the management agency needs to tighten regulations on licensing, regulations and frequency of organizing beauty and model contests; have a mechanism to evaluate the quality of beauty contests, from which to decide whether to continue to license the organization or not?
These are solutions that contribute to professionalizing the organization of beauty contests, returning the title of Miss to its worthy value.
In addition, the organizing committee of the contests, in addition to the responsibility of finding worthy candidates to honor, also needs to have strategic commitments to accompany the beauty queens after the coronation, so that the beauties who are only eighteen or twenty years old have the opportunity to mature, improve themselves, know how to manage their image and spread many positive values to society...
