For more than three decades, the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries have been continuously nurtured. Vietnam is Belarus's priority partner in Southeast Asia.
The friendship between the two countries has been tested by time and hardship. Belarusians, along with other peoples in the former Soviet Union, contributed to Vietnam’s victory in the struggle for independence. Thousands of Vietnamese people study and work in Belarus. The image of a Belarusian tractor printed on the 200-dong banknote has become legendary.
Over the past 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Vietnam and Belarus have built a solid foundation for their relationship. Belarus has been visited twice by the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam . In addition, contacts between leaders of the executive and legislative branches have taken place regularly.
More than 100 bilateral documents between countries, governments, departments, branches and regions have been signed. Dozens of major economic , trade and investment projects have been implemented.
The scope of cooperation is wide and diverse, from defense and security to culture, education, sports and tourism.
Close ties in education have also been established. Many Vietnamese people still remember their years of studying at universities in Belarus. The Ambassador shared that Belarus is still ready to receive Vietnamese students to study the most in-demand majors, including the semiconductor industry.
An important project in this area is the exchange program, meeting the children of law enforcement officers of the two countries - those who sacrificed or were injured in the line of duty - to visit and exchange in Belarus and Vietnam. "We hope that this humanitarian initiative will continue to be maintained and developed," Ambassador Uladzimir Baravikou expressed.
Another priority is to simplify people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. This year, the visa exemption agreement for ordinary passport holders between Vietnam and Belarus came into effect. The Ambassador hopes that direct flights will be opened in the near future.
Belarusians know and love the resorts in Vietnam because of the weather and the quality of service. Belarus also welcomes Vietnamese people to visit sanatoriums, nature reserves, famous military sites and immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the long-standing traditions of the Belarusian people.

Regarding trade, economy and investment, the Ambassador affirmed that this is a priority area. Belarus strives to develop balanced and mutually beneficial trade relations with Vietnam. Vietnam is a strategic partner of Belarus and at the same time a "gateway" to expand Belarus' exports to Southeast Asia. Industrial cooperation is emerging as a new area with great potential.
The Ambassador said that the joint venture project to assemble automobiles in Hung Yen province is a testament to the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation.
Vietnam also pays great attention to Belarus' technology in the fields of high technology, digital transformation, industry, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, food processing... Belarus is ready to cooperate and transfer advanced technologies to contribute to enhancing security and technology for Vietnam.
On the other hand, Vietnam's exports of rice, nuts, coffee, fruits and seafood to Belarus have grown strongly. In particular, microchips and electronic equipment products with the "made in Vietnam" brand have recently become popular in the Belarusian market.
In addition, there are a number of other potential areas of cooperation such as the development and application of information and communication technology, digitalization of life, artificial intelligence, energy and space exploration.
Ambassador Uladzimir Baravikou said that the two countries understand each other's interests and aspirations, share the desire to build long-term cooperation, maintain the achievements that have been made and use that as a foundation to open up new opportunities and prospects.
The Ambassador believes that with joint efforts to overcome all obstacles, Vietnam - Belarus relations will develop to a new height.
