General Secretary Tran Phu – A staunch communist soldier |
Exactly 120 years since the birth of Comrade Tran Phu - the first General Secretary of our Party (May 1, 1904 - May 1, 2024). Although he died at the age of 27, Comrade Tran Phu's revolutionary career was not long, but his contributions to the cause of the Party and the nation were immense. His revolutionary spirit and will are forever engraved in the glorious pages of history, and illuminate the revolutionary path that our Party and people have chosen.
The turning point in the revolutionary life of comrade Tran Phu began when he was sent to Guangzhou (China) to contact the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association. Here, Tran Phu met Nguyen Ai Quoc and attended a political training class taught by him; was admitted to the Communist Youth Union and was introduced by him to study at the Oriental University in Moscow. After that, comrade Tran Phu was sent back to the country to work, was added to the provisional Central Executive Committee and was assigned the important responsibility of writing the Draft Political Platform in preparation for the Party Founding Conference. | ||
As General Secretary, Comrade Tran Phu made important contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and our people. Especially in theoretical work when the Party was newly established. Not only was he an excellent leader, he was also a shining example of loyalty, steadfastness and indomitability in the face of the enemy. Before his death due to being imprisoned and brutally tortured by the French colonialists, Comrade Tran Phu still maintained the integrity of a communist soldier with the call: "Keep up the fighting spirit".

Comrade Tran Phu was born on May 1, 1904 in An Tho citadel, Tuy An prefecture (now An Dan commune, Tuy An district) in a family of Confucian scholars, his father was Mr. Tran Van Pho, originally from Viet Yen commune, now Tung Anh commune, Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh province. During his lifetime, Tran Phu lived with his parents in An Tho citadel for three years, from 1904 to 1907, he followed his parents to Duc Pho, Quang Ngai. Today, images of the life and revolutionary career of comrade Tran Phu are still engraved in An Tho citadel. Every year, an incense offering ceremony is held here to commemorate his birthday, attracting a large number of cadres, party members and people from all walks of life to participate. | ||
Generations of Vietnamese communists will never forget the last words of comrade Tran Phu: "Keep your fighting spirit strong". That word reminds every cadre and party member, regardless of conditions or circumstances, to always put the interests of the Party and the nation first, first of all, to strive to train and join hands to contribute to the development of the homeland and the country./. | ||
