On the afternoon of November 18, in Hanoi, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army held a scientific workshop "General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army - 80 years of steadfastly marching under the Party flag (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024)".

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, emphasized that the workshop is one of the specific and practical activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day, and the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.

The workshop aims to continue to affirm and deepen the process of establishment, growth, development and great contributions of the General Department of Politics to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the Vietnam People's Army; continue to develop theory and apply it to practice to improve the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of Party and political work, meeting the requirements of building the Army in the new situation...

Also at the workshop, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, said that the workshop is an opportunity for us to continue to systematically, deeply and comprehensively study the process of birth, maturity, development and great contributions of the General Department of Politics..., draw valuable lessons from the fire of war, perform noble international duties and the practice of building and defending the Fatherland. In addition, we will constantly supplement and develop theories, provide scientific and accurate arguments, as a basis for the General Department of Politics to advise and assist the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense in proposing to the Party and the State to plan guidelines and policies for building the army, strengthening national defense, and protecting the Fatherland in the new development stage of the country.

According to Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia, the workshop has deepened and clarified the glorious history and traditions and clearly explained the scientific basis to affirm that the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army over the past 80 years has always "steadfastly followed the Party's flag", made outstanding contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party in general and the cause of defending the Fatherland and building the People's Army in particular; clarified the achievements, limitations and causes in building the Party Committee and the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.

On that basis, correctly identify the issues raised, propose policies and solutions to continue building a clean and strong Party organization and a comprehensively strong General Department of Politics, meeting the requirements of innovation, improving the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of Party and political work in the new situation.

In his concluding remarks, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Nguyen Xuan Thang emphasized that the delegates had contributed many enthusiastic opinions, continuing to affirm the great contributions of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army over 80 years of building, fighting, winning and growing, firmly following the Party's flag. Constantly growing, developing, and fulfilling its assigned functions and tasks, the General Department of Politics is always worthy of being the Party's strategic advisory body on Party work and political work in the Army, and is the agency playing a core role in researching, advising, and proposing to build and perfect the Party's leadership mechanism for the Army in each revolutionary period.
