Summary of the 2023 Voluntary Blood Donation Movement

On March 25, the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation (VBD) held a conference to review the 2023 voluntary blood donation work and the direction and tasks for 2024. Comrade Nguyen Long Bien, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation chaired the conference.

In 2023, the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation at all levels effectively organized key campaigns and events, especially: Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign on the occasion of Tet and the Spring Festival 2023, National Voluntary Blood Donation Day, International Blood Donation Day June 14 and the Summer Blood Drops Campaign... attracting many sectors and many participants. As a result, 152 centralized voluntary blood donation campaigns and 4 mobile blood donation campaigns were organized, with 8,585 participants, donating 7,169 units of blood, reaching 126.4% of the 2023 target. During the year, 4 reserve blood donation teams of 120 people were established, increasing the number of reserve blood donation teams in the whole province to 14 teams with 420 volunteers. The Electronic Blood Bank team of 90 people, 6 voluntary blood donation family clubs with 30 members are ready to donate blood when needed. Concluding the conference, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, highly appreciated the agencies, departments, branches, organizations, enterprises, schools and localities that have done a good job in voluntary blood donation; at the same time, commended the collectives, individuals and families that have had many achievements in voluntary blood donation to save lives in recent years. In order for the voluntary blood donation movement in the province to develop more deeply and widely among all classes of people, he requested that agencies, units and localities need to overcome existing limitations, focus on effective implementation, closely direct the voluntary blood donation movement to ensure the achievement of assigned targets, strive to reach 7,000 units of blood in 2024; continue to develop plans for voluntary blood donation campaigns in key campaigns and events, strengthen propaganda with diverse and rich forms and contents, mobilize and call on more people to participate in voluntary blood donation to save lives. It is recommended that the Department of Health direct the Provincial General Hospital to invest in equipment and personnel to improve the capacity of blood collection, storage, management, use of blood and screening of blood products; the Red Cross should actively promote the expansion of blood donation subjects, increase the number of blood collections, gradually eliminate and eventually eliminate the situation of sudden blood donations, focusing on mobilizing employees in enterprises; continue to promote and commend typical individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in the voluntary blood donation movement, thereby encouraging, motivating, and creating a spread in society about the humanitarian activities "Donating blood to save people, a noble gesture", "Every drop of blood given, a life remains".

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 2 collectives and 42 individuals for their outstanding achievements in implementing the 2023 voluntary donation movement. The Provincial Voluntary Donation Movement Steering Committee awarded certificates of merit to 7 collectives and 8 individuals with achievements in participating in the 2023 voluntary donation movement.
