President Donald Trump confident about Greenland annexation initiative

US President Donald Trump is 100% confident that his initiative to annex Greenland will succeed.

In an interview with NBC on March 29 (local time), US President Donald Trump stated that he is 100% confident that his initiative to annex Greenland will be successful.

"We're going to get Greenland. Yes, 100%," Trump said.

On March 28, US Vice President JD Vance visited the US space base in Greenland.

Since December last year, President Trump has mentioned the need to annex Greenland to the US. Meanwhile, the majority of Greenland residents do not approve of this proposal.

Until 1953, Greenland was a colony of Denmark. Although it remains part of the Kingdom, in 2009 Greenland gained autonomy with the ability to govern itself and make independent choices in its domestic policy.

US President Donald Trump said that his country needs Greenland to ensure world peace.

“I believe Greenland understands that the United States should have this island. If Denmark and the European Union (EU) do not understand that, we will explain it to them. We need Greenland. For the sake of global security, the United States must have that island," Mr. Trump once emphasized at the White House.
