If you're looking for a new plug-in hybrid with the longest electric range, here are the top 10 for 2025. Note that MPGe stands for "Miles Per Gallon Equivalent," a measure of fuel efficiency used for electric and hybrid vehicles that equates to the number of miles a car can travel on a gallon of fuel (or the amount of electricity equivalent to a gallon of fuel).

MPGe is a unit that allows consumers to easily compare the fuel economy of electric vehicles with that of traditional gasoline vehicles. To calculate MPGe, the EPA converts the heat energy produced by 1 gallon of fuel (specifically gasoline) to 33.7 kWh of electricity – the amount of electricity needed to produce the same amount of heat energy. For example, an electric vehicle rated at 110 MPGe would travel 110 miles on 33.7 kWh of electricity.
