According to local residents, some people have been attacked by the big monkey, even bitten until bleeding. This raises concerns about the safety and hygiene of the Ba Chua Temple area.

Ms. Hoang Thi My (40 years old, Ha Long City) shared, “At first, everyone was excited to see monkeys and fed them fruit, but after a few times of having their food snatched away, many people began to feel annoyed and afraid of being scratched or bitten. Among them, the big monkey was very bold, not afraid to approach people, even getting into cars and snatching the phone of the person filming it.”

Authorities surrounded and captured a monkey that was aggressively walking down the street.

Mr. Doan Duc Hung (45 years old, Hong Hai ward, Ha Long city) said, “I often jog on this route. For the past 2 days, when these 2 monkeys appeared, many curious people filmed and took pictures to record their activities. There were cases where when I got too close, I was scratched and chased by the monkeys. The two monkeys that appeared at Ba Chua temple followed me down from Bai Tho mountain.”

Currently, the local authorities have coordinated with the Ha Long City Forest Protection Department to capture the two monkeys and verify their origin. However, the capture process encountered many difficulties because the big monkey kept running away, climbing up the mountain and then down to the coast. After nearly 1 hour, the Forest Protection force captured the big monkey and brought it to the island, returning it to the natural environment. The remaining small monkey ran back up Bai Tho Mountain.

The authorities recommend that if people see monkeys continue to appear in the above area, they should not contact, tease or feed the monkeys to avoid stimulating aggressive behavior. At the same time, if they detect monkeys behaving abnormally, people should immediately notify local authorities for timely handling.
