Ho Chi Minh City selected 46 land plots with a total area of ​​7,397 hectares to make TOD.

Information from the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City (now the Department of Agriculture and Environment) said that 46 positions were selected after many reviews and working sessions with departments, branches and districts.

Of which, along the urban railway lines there are 29 land plots with a total area of ​​795.8 hectares, including: line 1 has 21 land plots (393.3 hectares), line 2 has 3 land plots (72.6 hectares), line 3 has 1 land plot (314 hectares), and line 4 has 4 land plots (15.8 hectares).

Land plot I/82 A, Tay Thanh ward, Tan Phu district is currently vacant land, so it is convenient for implementing the TOD model along metro line 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong).

In addition, there are 17 land plots with a total area of ​​6,601 hectares located along beltways and expressways, including 14 land plots along Beltway 3 (3,779 hectares), 1 land plot along Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway (337 hectares), and 2 land plots along Beltway 4 (2,485 hectares).

According to Decision No. 4836/QD-UBND dated October 30, 2024, Ho Chi Minh City will initially pilot TOD implementation in 11 land plots with a total area of ​​1,711 hectares.

In which, in the 2024 - 2025 period, investment will be made in 9 land plots (1,107 hectares); in the 2026 - 2028 period, investment will be made in 2 land plots (604 hectares).

The remaining land with an area of ​​5,685 hectares is being studied for implementation roadmap in accordance with the progress of urban railway, beltway and highway projects.

Currently, Ho Chi Minh City is promoting the development of urban models associated with public transport hubs to develop satellite cities, reduce the load on the central area and promote economic growth.
