The specific enrollment plan for grades 1, 6, and 10 for the 2024-2025 school year is as follows:

Ho Chi Minh City applies Geographic Information System (GIS) to support enrollment work in Thu Duc city and districts in the city.

Registration for entry into first grade classes and admission are done entirely online.

Grade 1 admission is divided into 2 phases.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the first grade enrollment process is divided into 2 phases, including:

Phase 1 : Priority is given to candidates who are actually residing in the area.

Phase 2 : Based on the units that have not recruited enough students compared to the assigned quota, the Primary Admissions Steering Committee decides to open the second round of admission (registration is still done online).

In case the information of the enrollment database and population data are not consistent, the Primary Admission Steering Committee is responsible for guiding, reviewing, and adjusting accurately before the child registers for enrollment.

Deadline for announcing the list of successful candidates for grade 1: August 1, 2024.

Grade 6 Admissions: Entrance Survey at Some Secondary Schools

Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee agreed with the proposal of the Departmentof Education and Training on recruiting students for grade 6 based on capacity assessment survey at some schools.

The secondary school implements the high-quality program "advanced school, international integration", the school has more students registering for grade 6 than the enrollment quota.

The departments of education and training will be responsible for creating survey questions, organizing the survey, determining the admission subjects, etc.

If students are not admitted to grade 6 at the above schools, they will still be considered for admission to grade 6 according to the regulations of the Primary School Admission Steering Committee of districts.

For the remaining secondary schools, the department still proposes to recruit students through the form of selection. The recruitment process is carried out online.

The 6th grade admission process will be divided into 2 phases, including:

Phase 1 : Priority is given to candidates who are actually residing in the area, have completed primary school and are within the prescribed age.

Phase 2: Based on the units that have not recruited enough students compared to the assigned quota, the Primary Admissions Steering Committee decides on the opening of the second round of admissions, and at the same time stipulates the subjects allowed to register during this phase (registration is still carried out online at the admissions page prescribed by the department).

Grade 10 Admissions: Entrance Exam Combined with Selection

Admission to grade 10 for the 2024-2025 school year in Ho Chi Minh City will be carried out in 2 phases.

Phase 1 : Students register for 3 priority wishes 1, 2, 3 to take the entrance exam to grade 10 of public high schools (except Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted and High School for the Gifted under Ho Chi Minh City National University).

Phase 2: Depending on the application status at high schools, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training will decide on additional enrollment. This decision is to ensure the rights of candidates with high 10th grade admission scores; to meet enrollment targets for schools that are still lacking in enrollment targets.

In particular, the 10th grade entrance exam will be applied to candidates who wish to enroll in public high schools. Particularly, for candidates who graduated from junior high school in Thanh An island commune, Can Gio district, the 10th grade entrance exam will be conducted.

Candidates for public grade 10 are students graduating from junior high school in the 2023-2024 school year in Ho Chi Minh City within the prescribed age. The expected grade 10 entrance exam date is June 6 and 7, 2024.

Candidates will take 3 essay tests including literature, math and foreign language (foreign language 1 being studied at school). Of which, literature and math have 120 minutes/exam, foreign language 90 minutes.
