Ho Chi Minh City to display 17 national treasures

VHO - From June 29 to August 10, 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History will display the theme "National Treasures - Heritage Masterpieces in Ho Chi Minh City".

The special topic “National Treasures – Heritage Masterpieces in Ho Chi Minh City” will introduce 17 National Treasures currently kept in major museums of the city such as Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History, Ho Chi Minh City Museum, Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts, and the private collection of Pham Gia Chi Bao.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City, the 17 national treasures include: Dong Duong Buddha Statue, Devi Goddess Statue, Hoai Nhon Avalokitesvara Statue, Dai Huu Avalokitesvara Statue, Tan Hoi Vishnu Statue, Surya God Statue, Ngai Hoa Thuong Avalokitesvara Statue, Durga Goddess Statue, Son Tho Buddha Statue, Binh Hoa Buddha Statue, Loi My Buddha Statue, Sa Dec Buddha Statue;

Of which, the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History has 12 National Treasures. The National Treasures preserved at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History all belong to the Buddhist and Hindu art of the Phu Nam - Oc Eo Culture (1st-7th century) and Champa Culture (2nd-17th century) that developed long ago in the South and Central regions of Vietnam.

These are works of art that not only express the historical, cultural and religious values of ethnic groups but also the aesthetic values of contemporary techniques of indigenous Vietnamese ethnic groups in the past, contributing to enriching the treasure of Vietnamese cultural heritage.

The lacquer painting "Spring Garden of Central, South and North" - National Treasure is currently on display at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts.

This is the first time that treasures from both public and private museum systems have been displayed together, creating a panoramic picture of Vietnamese history and culture from prehistoric to modern times.

The artifacts are rich in materials, ages and artistic styles, reflecting the cultural depth and timeless creativity of the Vietnamese people.

The exhibition not only honors the historical, artistic and cultural values of the treasures, but also contributes to promoting national heritage to the public at home and abroad.

At the same time, this is a meaningful educational activity, helping the young generation raise awareness of heritage conservation, affirming the role of Ho Chi Minh City in preserving and promoting Vietnamese cultural values.
