Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc recently received and worked with Mr. Robert H. McCooey, Vice President of Nasdaq Stock Exchange.
At the meeting, Mr. Duoc expressed his pleasure to welcome Mr. Robert H. McCooey to visit and work with Ho Chi Minh City. He was very excited that the Vietnam - US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership continues to develop dynamically in many fields, especially in economic and technological cooperation.

According to Mr. Duoc, Nasdaq is one of the largest stock exchanges in the United States (along with the New York Stock Exchange NYSE). Currently, the City is in the process of establishing the Vietnam International Financial Center, and the National Assembly has approved Resolution 222 on the International Financial Center in Vietnam. This is a very important legal framework for us to start the journey.
Therefore, he wishes to cooperate comprehensively to build an international financial center of Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City, focusing on areas where Nasdaq has strengths such as technology, international connections, and especially prestige - trust with investors in mobilizing cash flows from all over the world .
“HCMC and Nasdaq have agreed on the principle of signing a memorandum of understanding during my upcoming visit to the US (expected from October 15 to 20). This memorandum will be an important start for our more specific work to realize the construction of a Vietnam international financial center in HCMC,” said Mr. Duoc.

Mr. Robert H. McCooty, Vice President and Head of Global Capital Markets of Nasdaq, said that Nasdaq's strength does not lie in "tangible" infrastructure such as real estate but lies mainly in technology, people and building trust with the international investment and financial community.
Therefore, he sees that Ho Chi Minh City - a young city with a large population, the economic center of Vietnam has a lot of potential and real opportunities. He expressed his hope that the International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City will become the leading financial - technology center of the region.
Mr. Robert H. McCooty also expressed his hope that Vietnamese ministries, branches, as well as specialized agencies of Ho Chi Minh City will participate throughout the process of building and operating the International Financial Center, thereby helping investors clearly see the benefits and opportunities when accompanying this important development stage.
Nasdaq also committed to accompanying the international financial center in Ho Chi Minh City through specific tasks and activities such as personnel training, financial technology transfer, investment calling, etc. In the immediate future, through the signing of a memorandum of understanding in October during the visit and work of the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee in the United States.
