Ms. Tran Thi Huong, Head of the Education and Training Department of Phan Rang-Thap Cham City, said that in the past period, closely following the guidance of the Department of Education and Training on organizing the provincial-level excellent student selection exams for junior and senior high schools; selecting teams to participate in the national-level excellent student selection exams; along with the attention and direction of the People's Committee of Phan Rang-Thap Cham City in investing in and upgrading facilities, teaching equipment, and building a team of teachers with high moral character and professional competence to train and nurture excellent students of the city, the City's Education and Training Department has developed a plan for organizing the city-level excellent student selection exam for junior high schools right from the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year. At the same time, it directed schools to seriously implement the plan; and promptly establish and organize training for excellent student teams to participate in the city-level and provincial-level competitions.
Comrade Chau Thi Thanh Ha, Standing Committee member of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Phan Rang - Thap Cham City Party Committee, presented certificates to students of Tran Phu Secondary School who won silver medals in the 9th grade category at the national-level online English Olympic competition for the 2022-2023 school year.
In that spirit, schools organized school-level gifted student selection exams to choose students with outstanding academic achievements to participate in the competition; assigned highly qualified and competent teachers with the ability to collect materials, compile and teach specialized and in-depth topics; and with scientific teaching methods and dedication to their work to train the teams participating in city-level and provincial-level gifted student selection exams. At the same time, schools were required to provide maximum support and create favorable conditions for teachers and students participating in gifted student training; strengthen coordination with parents to ensure their children actively prepare for the exams; and provide them with sufficient learning materials to confidently achieve the best possible results.
Vo Hoang Nhat Thy, a 9th-grade student from Tran Phu Secondary School, who won third prize in Literature at the provincial-level excellent student competition, happily shared that thanks to her teachers' dedicated tutoring and review of knowledge from basic to advanced levels, ensuring a systematic and scientific approach, and inspiring passion for the subject, she gained confidence and effort to achieve high results in this year's provincial-level excellent student competition.
Thanks to thorough and meticulous preparation, the city-level excellent student selection exam attracted a large number of talented students. Specifically, 387 students participated in the subjects of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, History, and Geography. As a result, 139 students were recognized as excellent students at the city level, achieving a rate of 35.9%. Among them, 87 students won prizes (including: 5 first prizes, 11 second prizes, 23 third prizes, and 48 consolation prizes). For the provincial-level excellent student selection exam, 97 students participated in the subjects of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, History, Geography, English, and Informatics. As a result, 64 students won prizes, accounting for 42.7% of the total number of prize winners in the province. Among them, there were 4 first prizes, 22 second prizes, and 38 third prizes.

Comrade Tran Ngoc Quang, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, stated that this year's excellent student selection exam affirms that the quality of education in the city is gradually improving and becoming more substantive, with the scale of education expanding; campaigns and emulation movements in schools have been implemented and achieved many remarkable results. The emulation movement of good teaching - good learning in the city's education and training sector and schools has been maintained, developed, and spread throughout the sector. In particular, city students have consistently won high awards in competitions and exams organized by the Department of Education and Training, especially in the excellent student movement in cultural subjects, leading the entire province for many years. These results have made a positive contribution to raising the intellectual level of the population, training human resources, nurturing talents, and contributing to the achievement of the city's socio -economic development goals and tasks. In the coming time, the locality will continue to pay attention to investing resources in education. The city's Department of Education and Training is directed to continue its efforts in innovating thinking and management to train comprehensively developed human resources. It should effectively implement the emulation movements "good teaching - good learning" and "Every teacher is a role model of morality, self-learning, and creativity"; and actively innovate teaching methods to encourage students to be proactive and creative in their learning and training, and to equip them with necessary life skills.
