A 32 kg python crawled into a poultry coop of a family in Loc Ha district to catch chickens and was caught by the homeowner.
At around 8:00 p.m. on June 19, Ms. Dao Thi Son, a resident of Ho Do Commune, Loc Ha District, went to visit the poultry coop behind her house and discovered a python chasing a flock of chickens. She chased it away and called the authorities to report it. The authorities then approached and, after a few minutes, captured the python and locked it in an iron cage.

Upon inspection, the forest rangers determined that the python weighed 32 kg, was 4 m long, and had a body diameter of more than 20 cm. "This is the largest python ever discovered in Loc Ha district," said Mr. Nguyen Xuan Man, Head of Loc Ha District Forestry Department.
Ho Do commune leaders and forest rangers believe that the python was captured by a local resident and escaped from its cage. Because the terrain is flat, there is no space for this species to live.
After being told that the python is a rare and endangered animal, Ms. Son's family handed it over to the Loc Ha District Forest Protection Department. On the morning of June 20, the forest rangers contacted Vu Quang National Park to receive the python and release it into the wild in the near future.

The scientific name of the ground python is Python molurus , belonging to group IIB (endangered and rare forest animals), listed in the Red Book of Vietnam. The species' main food is rodents, deer, birds, frogs and reptiles. Currently, the species' population is declining due to loss of habitat and hunting.
