Tran Le Anh Tuan - the poet who makes things difficult for himself

I was fortunate to read the poems of poet Tran Le Anh Tuan right from the first posts, about ten years ago. And now, at the age of 36, he has published his first collection of poems, Pho tro (Writers Association Publishing House, August 2024) with 27 poems.

Poetry is not about thickness, short or long, more or less. However, fans are a bit impatient when they see him posting and reposting the same few poems. It turns out that he is careful, thinks a lot and writes carefully, making it difficult for himself in front of the increasingly crowded ranks of poets.

Tran Le Anh Tuan's poetry is economical with words. For example, he writes in four words:

Red night forever

Green old stream

Imagination is impossible

Close the gaps

Most of the collection is free verse. Tran Le Anh Tuan's poems are broken, rhythmic, full of content, loose, and endless:

The wind still blows on the bridge

I missed the moonlight

Town in a small envelope

You bring with you many obscure paths

Poet Tran Le Anh Tuan was born in 1988, hometown: Xuan Lanh, Dong Xuan, Phu Yen , is a member of the Phu Yen Provincial Literature and Arts Association, a delegate to the 10th National Young Writers Conference in 2022 in Da Nang.

For me, don't ask about the poet's age. Poetry itself belongs to youth. The peak of poetic creation always belongs to youth, the age of fullness of life. Because the root of poetry is emotion, is surge, is extraordinary. And extraordinary only exists in youth. Let's look at the countless poets, how many of them can create good poetry when they are old, at least compared to themselves. Poetry history also records: the first poetry collections are often the peak of the poet's career.
