Tran Quyet Chien ranked number 2 in the world after the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City Billiards World Cup

The 2025 Ho Chi Minh City 3-cushion billiards World Cup took place at Nguyen Du Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City) with the participation of 149 players, including the world's top superstars. Fans were especially pleased when the home team had an impressive performance from the qualifying stage to the main round.

Tran Quyet Chien reached the semi-finals of the tournament held at home.

As the number 1 hope of Vietnamese carom billiards, Tran Quyet Chien confidently competed with strong opponents and advanced straight to the semi-finals. He competed on par with, and even led at times, Dutch superstar Dick Jaspers.

The 50-48 victory for Dick Jaspers did not reflect the true nature of the match and the strength of two of the world's top three-cushion carom players.

Overcoming the most formidable obstacle, Dick Jaspers quickly defeated Heo Jung-han (Korea) in the final match with a score of 50-33 after 20 rounds. After 9 times participating in the World Cup stages held in Vietnam, this was the first time Dick Jaspers touched the championship title in Ho Chi Minh City.

He added the latest achievement to a massive collection that now stands at 32 World Cup titles.

The champion of the tournament received 16,000 euros (nearly 470 million VND) and 80 bonus points. The runner-up received 10,000 euros and 54 bonus points for the runner-up achievement while the two third-place players at this World Cup in Ho Chi Minh City received 6,000 euros and 36 bonus points each.

The four players with the best results in the tournament

Immediately after the tournament ended, the World Carom Billiards Federation (UMB) updated the rankings of the players based on their performance in the Vietnam leg. Notably, Tran Quyet Chien rose to No. 2 in the world with 346 points, just behind Dick Jaspers (498 points) while Tran Thanh Luc rose one place from No. 5 to No. 4 in the world.

The Ho Chi Minh City 3-cushion billiards World Cup is organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Billiards & Snooker Federation (HBSF) with the support of Hollywood. The next World Cup will take place from June 9 to 15 in Türkiye.
