The officer honored to receive this decision is Major Tran Viet Cuong (Armored Corps) replacing Captain Nguyen Tien Long as Military Observer Officer, UNMISS Mission, Republic of South Sudan.

According to Major General Pham Manh Thang, Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, Major Tran Viet Cuong has participated in all training courses at the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department and abroad, and can meet the requirements of the United Nations as well as the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense in the deployment to participate in the implementation of UN peacekeeping missions at the Missions. Up to now, all preparations for Major Tran Viet Cuong's deployment have been basically completed and he is ready to depart on June 12, 2025.

In addition, Major General Pham Manh Thang also emphasized that the Vietnamese Peacekeeping Force in the Republic of South Sudan has been creating good impressions on the Mission Commander, international friends and colleagues, the government and people of the host country. Therefore, Major Tran Viet Cuong will have many advantages in the process of coordinating the implementation of the mission.
At the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien congratulated Major Tran Viet Cuong on participating in the UN peacekeeping mission. In addition, he praised the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department for its good work in preparing, training and creating human resources for this important mission.

Currently, the security situation at the South Sudan Mission is very complicated and unpredictable, with constant fighting and airstrikes. As observers and eyes of the Mission, the Vietnamese Peacekeeping Forces must always patrol and carry out environmental tasks outside the Headquarters.
To ensure this content, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien requested Major Tran Viet Cuong to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the Party's policies and guidelines, State laws and Military Discipline as well as the regulations of the United Nations and the laws of the host country.

Being sent to carry out a mission at the UNMISS Mission, Major Tran Viet Cuong clearly realized that this was both an honor and a great responsibility before the State, the Army and the people.
"I have prepared thoroughly in all aspects and am determined to carry out my mission. I promise to actively participate in humanitarian activities, contributing to spreading the image of the country and Vietnamese people as friendly, humane, peace-loving and the noble qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" to international friends and colleagues," said Major Tran Viet Cuong.
Up to now, Vietnam has sent nearly 1,100 officers and staff to participate in UN peacekeeping activities at 3 UN Missions and Headquarters.
Currently, Engineering Team No. 4 and Field Hospital 2.7 are undergoing training at the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department and Military Hospital 175 to prepare for the replacement deployment scheduled for next September.
According to the assessment of the Mission Commander and the United Nations authorities, Vietnamese officers have made great efforts in performing their assigned tasks, demonstrating professionalism and discipline, and leaving many good impressions on the Mission Commander, international friends and colleagues with specific, practical, and highly humane contributions.
Vietnam's peacekeeping force is increasingly developing and growing, thereby demonstrating Vietnam's position in the international arena, as well as affirming Vietnam's efforts and commitments in participating in United Nations peacekeeping activities, contributing to building global peace and security.
